We are hiring! We are looking for a Utilities and Maintenance lead to oversee all our support systems.

Who we are

Umendra Life Sciences manufactures OTC creams, gels, lotions and ointments for the US and international markets from our facility near Bavla. As we scale, we need a Manager to lead the site's entire Utilities & Maintenance function — the engineering backbone behind manufacturing, packaging, warehousing & dispensing, and our QC labs.

The role

Reporting into site engineering leadership, you'll own utilities and maintenance operations across the plant end-to-end — and sit on the site engineering leadership team. This is a hands-on leadership role: you set the standard, build the team, and are accountable for uptime, compliance, and safety across every critical system on site.

What you'll own

- Lead the maintenance team to deliver all site maintenance and calibration — preventive and breakdown — safely, on schedule, and in full cGMP compliance.
- Own the compliant operation of critical clean utilities: purified water, HVAC and cleanroom conditions, compressed air, clean steam, chilled/DM water, and related systems.
- Plan and schedule all maintenance and calibration activity against production availability; ensure resources are trained, qualified, and in place.
- Drive equipment uptime and resiliency across process and utility equipment — maximise availability, reduce unplanned downtime.
- Plan and execute site utility shutdowns cleanly, with minimal disruption to production.
- Run maintenance shift patterns and the on-call process so adequate cover exists at all times and is used efficiently.
- Raise,



investigate and close quality records — deviations, change controls, events, CAPA — and use RCA / Six Sigma tools to fix problems at the root, not the symptom.
- Maintain maintenance documentation, control systems and training records in line with cGMP.
- Continuously improve the maintenance and reliability program; embed a "Right First Time" mindset across the team.
- Coach, mentor and develop technicians and apprentices; own talent selection, training, succession and performance for your team.
- Support the site capital projects group on safe execution, and contribute to business continuity planning.
- Set team objectives and put the measurement in place to track performance against plan.

Who fits

- 12-15 years in pharmaceutical / OTC / regulated manufacturing, with strong technical, maintenance and people-leadership experience.
- Deep, practical command of GMP utilities and plant maintenance in a regulated (ideally US-export / USFDA-oriented) workplace.
- A degree in Engineering, Science or a related discipline is preferred.
- Someone who leads from the floor — structures work clearly, develops people, and holds the compliance line without slowing the plant down.
- Able to work on-site at Bavla, full-time. This is a plant role, not a corporate one.

What this role is not

- Not a head-office or desk-only engineering role — you'll be on the plant floor, on-call cycles included.
- Not remote or hybrid. It's on-site at Bavla, every day.
- Not for someone who's managed maintenance only on paper — this needs real, current shopfloor and clean-utilities depth.
