- Collect feedback from clients and internal stakeholders to continuously improve software quality and usability.
- Participate in customer escalations requiring deep technical debugging.
- Engage with OEM vendors (servo, drives, sensors, cloud platforms) for third party integration.
4. Operational Effectiveness
- Lead requirement analysis and translate specifications into system architecture, module design, and implementation plans.
- Take end-to-end ownership of software development process for existing architecture, Gen next smart machine architecture without affecting machine performance and efficiency (integrated various PLC/ embedded and CNC systems,
Design intuitive HMI screens and UX) .
- Define PCB level firmware architecture for motor drives . Specify sensors, actuators, power supplies, and communication interfaces (CAN, EtherCAT, PROFINET, RS 485, Ethernet based).
- Oversee IoT ready architecture with On board gateway (Raspberry Pi/Industrial PC or custom) for field buses to IP based communication.
- Ability to handle Real time dashboards, KPI visualization, E-alert, anomaly detection, and root cause analysis
- Knowledge on IoT, Connectivity & Cybersecurity to Design IoT ready architecture with On board gateway (Raspberry Pi/Industrial PC or custom) for field buses to IP based communication.
- Support for (MQTT-Message Queing telemetry Transport /OPC UA-Open Platform Communications Unified Architecture) to Spin Connect or equivalent.
- Ensure secure communication (TLS-Transport Layer Security, VPN-Virtual Physical Network, secure boot, OTA-Open-To-Air update security).
- Enable remote monitoring, diagnostics, and OTA updates without physical visits to every mill.
- Oversee coding and Implement unit testing, integration testing, system validation, deployment, and commissioning.
- Enforce coding standards, best practices, version control, and comprehensive documentation for software and HMI.
- Ensure compliance with industry and safety standards (IEC 61131, ISO, IEC 60204, ISO 13849, IEC 61508/62061).
5. Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Implement AI/ML models for predictive maintenance(spindles, bearings, gearboxes, and drafting systems), anomaly detection, energy optimization (motor load profiling, start stop logic, power sag handling), and quality control (e.g., yarn breakage, sliver CV, draft drift, premature wear). best practices, modern frameworks,
and emerging technologies across software teams.
- Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among team members.
6. People Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop multi-domain software teams (PLC, Embedded, CNC, AI/ML).
- Coordinate with other stake holders to translate hardware features into software driven customer value (e.g., Gen Next smart machine”, “closed loop digital sliver control”, “QLM/QMS”)
- Conduct performance reviews, career development planning, and succession planning.
- Promote teamwork, technical excellence, and adherence to standards and best practices (software coding standards, version control (Git), CI/CD, and test procedures for industrial embedded systems)
7. Additional Responsibilities, if any
- Conduct and Represent the software function in design reviews, audits, and senior management meetings to ensure modular, scalable, and maintainable software.
- Manage post-deployment support, including debugging, patch releases, and updates.
- Define project schedules, monitor progress, track quality metrics, and manage risks to ensure timely delivery.
- Act as liaison between software, electrical, mechanical, and CNC teams to ensure smooth integration.
