ABOUT THE ROLE
Urban Grey Engineering Solutions is looking for a highly analytical and motivated Financial Modelling Trainee – Infrastructure to join our Infrastructure Advisory team.
The selected candidate will work closely with our engineering, DPR and project teams to develop financial models and financial analyses for urban and infrastructure projects.
This position is suitable for an MBA/PGDM Finance fresher or early-career professional with strong numerical ability, excellent Microsoft Excel skills and a keen interest in infrastructure finance, project finance, financial modelling and investment analysis.
The selected candidate will receive practical exposure to real-world infrastructure projects and will be trained to translate technical project inputs such as CAPEX, OPEX, implementation schedules and revenue assumptions into structured financial models.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and maintain Excel-based financial models for infrastructure and urban development projects.
- Prepare long-term project cash-flow projections based on project CAPEX, OPEX, revenue and financing assumptions.
- Assist in preparation and analysis of Project IRR, Equity IRR, NPV, DSCR, payback period and other financial indicators.
- Develop CAPEX, OPEX, revenue and lifecycle financial projections based on inputs received from engineering and project teams.
- Prepare debt schedules covering loan drawdown, interest, principal repayment and debt-servicing requirements.
- Assist in evaluating different combinations of debt, equity, grants and other financing sources.
- Develop project-specific revenue models covering user charges, rentals, lease income, commercial revenue, parking revenue, advertisement income and other potential revenue streams.
- Prepare sensitivity and scenario analyses for changes in CAPEX, OPEX, revenue, demand, interest rates and other key project assumptions.
- Assist in evaluating the financial viability, affordability and sustainability of infrastructure projects.
- Support preparation of financial sections of DPRs, feasibility reports, business plans, investment proposals and project appraisal reports.
- Assist in preparation of financial dashboards, charts, presentations and management summaries.
- Work closely with Civil Engineers, Architects, Quantity Surveyors and other technical professionals to understand project assumptions and incorporate them into financial models.
- Assist in research and analysis of infrastructure financing, Government funding programmes, municipal finance, PPP models and asset monetisation opportunities.
- Maintain proper documentation of financial assumptions, calculations, model versions and supporting data.
- Support senior management and project teams in financial analysis and project-related presentations as required.
QUALIFICATION
- MBA / PGDM in Finance – Required
- Candidates who have recently completed their MBA/PGDM or are in the final stage of completion may apply.
- Candidates with an undergraduate background in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or other quantitative disciplines will have an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE Freshers and candidates with up to 1 year of experience may apply.
Previous internship/project exposure in any of the following will be an added advantage:

CANDIDATE PROFILE We are looking for a Finance professional with strong analytical and financial modelling aptitude, rather than an accounting or bookkeeping profile.
The ideal candidate should enjoy working with numbers, Excel models, financial assumptions and analytical problems and should be interested in understanding how large infrastructure projects are planned, financed and made financially sustainable.
The candidate should be comfortable working closely with engineering professionals and learning the technical and commercial fundamentals of infrastructure projects.
Strong Excel skills and willingness to develop advanced financial modelling capabilities are essential for this position.
