About the RoleWe are looking for an experienced Senior Accounting Manager / Controller to lead accounting and financial operations for a fast-paced, high-growth organization with business operations across Canada and the United States.
This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for maintaining financial accuracy, strengthening internal controls, ensuring timely financial reporting, and supporting business growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, collections and payment processes.
- Manage bank reconciliations and channel partner reconciliations.
- Oversee inventory accounting, landed cost, component accounting and PO adjustments.
- Manage General Ledger reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Handle Canadian and US sales tax filings and related compliance requirements.
- Oversee corporate credit card management, monthly statements and payments.
- Manage accounting aspects related to duty claims with CBSA and US CBP.
- Support Canadian and US corporate insurance and employee benefit accounting/administration.
- Ensure compliance with applicable Canadian accounting standards, Canadian and US tax regulations, internal policies and audit requirements.
- Develop, implement and strengthen internal financial controls and accounting policies.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation and increased operational efficiency.
- Work closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams on financial matters.
Candidate Profile
- CPA designation or equivalent educational qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Controller, Senior Accounting Manager or similar leadership position.
- Experience in retail, multinational, multi-location or consumer products organizations will be preferred.

- Strong hands-on experience with ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- A collaborative leadership approach with the ability to work across different levels of the organization.
- Robust focus on accuracy, process improvement and leveraging technology to improve financial operations.
