- Responsibilities
We are looking for Field Engineers to install, configure, and maintain this hardware on-site, and to monitor system health and resolve complaints on a daily basis within defined TAT (Turnaround Time). (ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras, UHF RFID readers, and OCR (Optical Character Recognition) cameras for container identification.

Notice Period: Immediate - 15 Days Only
- Install and commission ANPR cameras, UHF RFID readers, and OCR cameras at designated locations across Chennai Port as per project layout and site requirements.
- Configure hardware devices and ensure proper network connectivity between field devices and the central server for real-time data validation.
- Perform daily monitoring of all installed ANPR, RFID, and OCR systems to ensure continuous uptime and accurate data capture.
- Identify, log, and resolve field-level hardware and network faults within the assigned TAT (Turnaround Time), escalating complex issues where required.
- Carry out routine preventive maintenance of cameras, RFID readers, mounting structures, cabling, and networking equipment.
- Coordinate with the server/backend team to validate data accuracy and troubleshoot mismatches between hardware readings and server records.
- Maintain daily logs of installations, complaints, resolutions, and maintenance activities, and report status to the reporting manager.
- Work on-site at the port for installation, cabling, mounting, and troubleshooting activities, including working at height or in outdoor/industrial environments as required.
- Liaise with port authorities/site personnel in the local language for coordination of site access, permissions, and daily operations.
- Ensure compliance with port safety protocols and site access procedures at all times.
Requirements
- 2+ years of hands-on experience with camera hardware (CCTV/ANPR/OCR) and/or UHF RFID reader installation and maintenance.
- Basic knowledge of electrical wiring, power supply connections, and electronics hardware troubleshooting.
- Basic networking knowledge —
- IP addressing, LAN/WAN connectivity, switches, and troubleshooting network connectivity issues for field devices.
- Willingness and ability to perform in office field work, including installation, cabling, and troubleshooting in an outdoor/port environment.
- Must be able to speak the local language (Tamil) fluently, along with Hindi or English for reporting and coordination.
- Ability to work independently on-site and resolve issues within defined TAT with minimal supervision.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond promptly to complaints/escalations as per project requirements.
Good to Have
- Prior experience working on port, logistics, toll, or smart-city surveillance/tracking projects.
- Familiarity with ANPR/OCR software interfaces and RFID middleware for basic-level diagnostics.
- Experience with structured cabling, PoE (Power over Ethernet) devices, and outdoor camera/RFID mounting.
- Two-wheeler with valid driving license for mobility across port site locations.
Work Conditions
- Role involves regular on-site presence at Chennai Port, including outdoor work across container yards and terminal areas.
- May require working in shifts, including weekends, based on project and complaint-resolution requirements.
- Use of PPE and adherence to port safety norms is mandatory.
