Script Assist is looking for an exceptional Deputy Head of Finance with strong, hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience and broad ownership of financial control and accounting operations.

This is a senior but highly hands-on finance role.

We are particularly interested in people currently or previously working as a:

- Financial Controller
- Head of Finance
- Head of Accounts
- Finance Manager with end-to-end ownership
- Deputy Head of Finance
- Senior Finance Manager with broad controllership responsibility

This role may be especially attractive to a Financial Controller or Head of Finance in a smaller organisation who is ready to step into a broader Deputy Head of Finance role within a fast-growing international technology company.

You do not need to have led finance for a huge organisation or managed a very large team.

We value breadth, ownership, technical accounting strength and systems capability more than the size of your previous employer.

⚙️ Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is essentialThis is a critical requirement for the role.

We are not looking merely for someone who happened to work at a company that used Business Central.

You should have personally used Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central deeply as a senior finance user and/or played a substantial finance-side role in:

Dynamics NAV / Navision experience is valuable additional experience, but it does not replace genuine Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.

You need to be comfortable moving between senior finance leadership and detailed accounting work. You should be able to review a balance-sheet reconciliation, investigate an unexplained number, challenge an accounting treatment, improve a Business Central workflow and then discuss the financial position with the CEO.

We are looking for someone who remains close to the detail rather than delegating everything underneath them. ?️ Statutory, tax & auditYou should have meaningful experience across:

- Statutory accounts
- External audit
- Year-end reporting
- Corporation-tax coordination
- VAT / indirect tax
- Payroll-related compliance
- Audit schedules
- Working papers
- External accountants
- Tax advisers
- Resolving audit queries
- Implementing audit recommendations

You do not need to personally be a specialist in every tax area. You do need to understand enough to own the process, challenge advisers and make sure things happen properly.

? International & multi-entity financeExperience with international or group finance would be highly valuable, including:

- Multi-entity accounting
- Multi-currency accounting

- Intercompany accounting

You do not need experience running finance for a huge multinational. Experience in a smaller international group, startup, scale-up or SME may be particularly relevant because the role requires breadth and hands-on ownership.

- A full CA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent recognised accountancy qualification
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller, Head of Finance, Head of Accounts, Finance Manager or equivalent broad finance owner
- Genuine hands-on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience
- Broad responsibility for the underlying accounting operation
- Strong month-end experience
- Excellent balance-sheet reconciliation discipline
