Role Overview The Clinician will be responsible for supporting TB screening and clinical referral processes as part of the project at the district level. This role involves conducting clinical assessments,

interpreting screening outcomes, ensuring referral linkages with public health systems, and supporting the follow-up of identified cases. The Clinician will work in close coordination with the District Coordinator, school health teams,

community health workers, and local TB programme officials to ensure timely and ethical medical engagement.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Screening & Assessment:

· Review TB screening outcomes and provide clinical interpretation and follow-up recommendations. · Support the medical review of symptomatic children and refer them to the appropriate health facilities for further diagnosis or treatment as per NTEP protocols.

· Conduct on-site clinical checks (where necessary) at designated schools or community centres.

Coordination with Health Systems:

· Liaise with RBSK teams, PHCs/CHCs, and NTEP units to facilitate diagnostic services (e.g., sputum collection, chest X-rays) for referred children.



· Assist in establishing linkage pathways from schools to diagnostic and treatment services.

· Ensure adherence to national TB treatment guidelines and ethical standards during clinical interactions.

Medical Documentation & Reporting:

· Maintain clinical records of students referred for further testing, including symptom profiles and outcomes. · Contribute to case summaries, referral registers, and follow-up reports for the central study team.

· Support documentation for any adverse events, refusal cases, and special medical follow-up.

Support to Community Engagement & Capacity Building:

· Provide medical inputs during sensitisation sessions for school staff, community health workers, and local stakeholders. · Train field counsellors, ASHAs, and school health educators on TB symptoms and referral red flags.

· Offer supportive supervision during field-level screening events or health camps.

Requirements

Qualifications & Skills · MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution.

· Valid registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) or relevant State Medical Council.

· 4–7 years of relevant clinical experience, preferably with exposure to TB, infectious diseases, paediatrics, community health or public health programmes.

· Sound understanding of TB screening, clinical assessment, referral and follow-up processes, preferably with knowledge of NTEP guidelines.

· Experience working with children and adolescents, particularly in school health, community health or public health settings.

· Ability to coordinate effectively with PHCs/CHCs,



RBSK teams, NTEP units, schools and community health workers.

· Strong clinical documentation, reporting and case follow-up skills.

· Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children, families, healthcare providers and community stakeholders.

· Proficiency in English and Hindi; knowledge of the local language/dialect will be an advantage.

Desirable Attributes

· Prior experience in TB control, infectious disease programmes or large-scale public health projects.

· Familiarity with NTEP protocols, government health systems and referral pathways.

· Experience conducting or supporting school-based screening, health camps or community-based clinical activities.

· Experience providing clinical orientation, training or supportive supervision to field teams, ASHAs, counsellors or school health personnel.

· Ability to work independently in field settings while coordinating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.

· Strong attention to detail in clinical records, referral tracking and programme documentation.

· Demonstrated sensitivity and professionalism when working with children, adolescents and diverse communities.

· Willingness to travel within the assigned district and undertake field-based clinical responsibilities as required.
