Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer with 4–6 years of project design experience to lead civil engineering efforts for utility‑scale solar projects in the U.S. market. The role involves directing civil design activities, including site planning, grading, drainage, stormwater engineering, and road layout development, while ensuring compliance with AHJ, DOT, DEP, and U.S. code requirements.

This position requires strong proficiency in Civil 3D for surface modelling, corridor creation, earthwork analysis, and preparation of grading and drainage deliverables.

The Civil

Engineer will work closely with civil, structural, electrical, environmental, and permitting teams to produce coordinated IFC packages and support client discussions and technical reviews. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong engineering judgment, leadership ability, and the capability to deliver accurate, constructible, and code‑compliant civil design packages from concept through IFC.

Core Responsibilities

Site Planning, Site Feasibility Study

- Lead and own civil engineering design for C&I;, DER, and utility-scale solar projects in the U.S.
- Define design strategy, establish criteria, and guide technical direction based on AHJ, geotechnical, permitting, and client requirements.
- Provide technical leadership to the civil design team, resolving engineering issues and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Plan and optimize overall site layout, access roads, entrances, parking, laydown yards, PV blocks, and infrastructure in accordance with AHJ and DOT requirements.
- Lead Civil 3D expertise for site development workflows, including corridor modeling, assemblies,



subassemblies, profiles, plan-view alignment creation, sight-distance triangles, roundabout geometry, and county road upgrade requirements.

Grading Design

- Lead grading design for inverter pads, tracker rows, PV solar fields, BESS pads, substation yards, O&M; buildings, equipment foundations, and overall site platforms.
- Oversee Civil 3D-based grading for roads, slopes, berms, retention/detention ponds, laydown yards, and drainage corridors.
- Perform earthwork optimization, cut/fill balancing, grading tie-ins, slope stabilization design, and constructability reviews.
- Develop detailed road alignment layouts, vertical profiles, cross-sections, super-elevation design, and horizontal control in accordance with DOT and county standards.
- Support trench design, underground routing, ductbank alignments, trench cross-sections, and Civil 3D modeling of utilities.

Drainage & Stormwater Management

- Lead hydrology and stormwater engineering including runoff modeling, hydraulic sizing, stormwater routing, and channel/ditch design.
- Design retention ponds, detention ponds, sediment basins, drainage traps, and basin outlet structures following state and county stormwater regulations.
- Review and validate hydraulic calculations for culverts, swales, energy dissipation, spillways, and peak-flow control per AHJ requirements.
- Oversee preparation of permitting-compliant SWPPP, SPCC, SPPP, E&S; Plans, BMP strategies, and stormwater technical packages.
- Provide technical guidance for Highway Occupancy Permits (HOP), driveway access permits, county stormwater permits, environmental approvals, and right-of-way applications.

Coordination, BOQ & Technical Support

- Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, environmental, and geotechnical teams to deliver fully integrated design packages.
- Review and approve BOQs, engineering estimates, scope matrices, material specifications, and procurement documentation.
- Provide engineering oversight for IFC deliverables, design bases, technical notes, and permitting documents.
- Act as the lead civil engineering representative in client discussions, multi-disciplinary design reviews, technical meetings, and bid/proposal cycles.

Quality Assurance & Site Support

- Lead QA/QC processes including checking grading models, corridor models, hydrology reports, drainage maps, and civil-site deliverables.
- Conduct risk assessments, design validation, constructability reviews, and peer checks in alignment with U.S. codes and project standards.
- Provide engineering support during permitting, pre-construction, and construction, including responding to RFIs, design clarifications, and field condition changes.

Design Review & Code Compliance

- Review and validate all civil engineering analyses including grading models, corridor modelling outputs, hydrologic calculations, and pond sizing.




- Ensure compliance with U.S. federal, state, and county standards including DOT roadway criteria, AHJ stormwater requirements, erosion control rules, and permitting frameworks.
- Guide the design team in applying ASCE, ASTM, EPA, state DEP stormwater rules, and local jurisdictional standards based on project location.

Education Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (required).
- Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).

Project Management:

- Design experience in projects from conception to implementation
- Ability to coordinate with other engineers and stakeholders

Renewable Energy Systems:

- Understanding of solar PV, BESS, and renewable energy infrastructure design and integration.

Experience

- 4–6 years of civil engineering experience, preferably on U.S. solar, BESS, substation, or other renewable energy projects.
- Strong experience in analysis and design for power and renewable energy systems.

Psychosocial Skills /Human Skills/Behavioural Skills

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Project Management experience a plus.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to take ideas and run with them from concept to conclusion.
- Technical understanding of clean energy business processes
- Exceptional verbal and writing communication skills with superiors, peers, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment.
- Excellence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
