Role Description The Chief Dietitian is a full-time, on-site role based at Pushpagiri Medical College Hospital in Thiruvalla taluk. This role involves leading the dietetics department, overseeing the development and implementation of evidence-based nutritional care plans for inpatients and outpatients, and ensuring alignment with medical teams across specialties.
The Chief
Dietitian will supervise and mentor dietitians and nutrition staff, coordinate clinical nutrition services, and contribute to hospital policies and protocols related to medical nutrition therapy. Daily responsibilities include patient assessment, nutritional counseling, documentation of care,
participation in multidisciplinary rounds, and quality assurance activities. The role may also involve conducting nutrition education programs for patients, families, and staff, and supporting research or academic initiatives within the medical college.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess solid expertise in Dietetics and Nutrition, including understanding of clinical and community nutrition principles.
- Candidates should possess skills in Nutritional Counseling and Weight Management to support diverse patient populations with individualized care plans.
- Candidates should possess proficiency in Medical Nutrition Therapy for managing conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, renal disorders, gastrointestinal issues, and critical care needs.
- Postgraduate degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, or Food & Nutrition from a recognized institution; relevant professional registration or licensure as applicable.
- Significant experience in hospital or clinical settings, preferably in a leadership role managing dietetic services and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Strong communication, documentation, and patient education skills, with the ability to supervise and mentor a team.
- Competence in developing protocols, quality improvement initiatives, and evidence-based practice guidelines in clinical nutrition.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records, hospital information systems, and basic research or academic activities is an added advantage.
