Role Overview

We are looking for an Assistant Manager – Maintenance with strong hands-on experience in manufacturing equipment and a proven understanding of preventive maintenance, breakdown management and equipment reliability. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth functioning of production and utility equipment while minimising downtime and recurring breakdowns.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, schedule and monitor Preventive Maintenance (PM) activities for production and utility equipment.
- Ensure timely servicing, inspection and maintenance of critical equipment.
- Identify potential equipment failures proactively and take corrective action to prevent breakdowns.
- Handle breakdowns and coordinate with Production to restore equipment with minimum downtime.
- Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring breakdowns and implement permanent corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment downtime, availability and OEE, and identify areas for improvement.
- Manage critical maintenance spares, equipment-wise BOMs and maintenance schedules.
- Coordinate with OEMs, AMC partners and external vendors for servicing and repairs.
- Guide and supervise technicians and ensure maintenance activities are completed as per schedule.
- Maintain maintenance records, checklists, logbooks and CMMS/SAP work orders.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, safety standards and maintenance SOPs.

Equipment Exposure

The candidate should ideally have experience working with food/FMCG production and packaging equipment such as:
- Mixers and processing equipment




- Ovens and heating systems
- Fillers and packers
- Conveyors
- Pumps and motors
- Compressors and chillers
- Electrical panels and control systems
- Other production and utility equipment

Requirements

- Strong understanding of preventive and planned maintenance practices.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Strong focus on preventing repeat breakdowns rather than only reactive maintenance.
- Ability to manage maintenance schedules and ensure timely PM completion.
- Positive understanding of equipment reliability, downtime and OEE.
- Experience in managing technicians and coordinating with production teams.
- Ability to manage external vendors, OEMs and AMC partners.
- Willingness to work in a manufacturing/production environment and support shift requirements when needed.

Experience

- 6–8 years of relevant experience in maintenance, preferably within FMCG, food manufacturing, bakery, beverage, packaging or similar manufacturing environments.
- Prior experience handling production equipment and preventive maintenance programs is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing a team of technicians will be an added advantage.

Education

- M.Tech / B.Tech / B.E. in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or related Engineering discipline.
- Relevant technical certifications in maintenance, automation or equipment servicing will be an added advantage.
