About the Role

You'd be our senior full-stack engineer, working directly with the founders on a codebase you'll shape rather than inherit. This is a small team, so the scope is wide: you'll own features end to end, from schema design through the API layer to what the student sees.

Responsibilities

Agentic execution. We’re building Cowork — the layer that moves Orbit from giving advice to doing the work. Finding relevant research labs and drafting the outreach, chasing recommendation letters, tracking deadlines across a dozen portals. This is event-sourced agent infrastructure with real reliability requirements, because the failure mode isn't a bad answer, it's a missed deadline a student can't get back.
AI systems that have to be right. Solvi runs on frontier LLMs, but the value is in the layer we own: retrieval over student context, prompt and orchestration architecture,



and the evaluation harness that tells us whether a change made things better. If you've built LLM systems past the demo stage and know how much of the work is in the evals, you'll recognize this problem.

Qualifications

3+ years building and shipping production software, with real ownership of what you built
Robust TypeScript/React and Python — our stack is Next.js on Vercel, FastAPI services, and Postgres on Supabase
Comfort designing relational schemas and reasoning about query performance, not just consuming an ORM
Experience building on LLM APIs in production, including the unglamorous parts: evals, cost, latency, and failure handling
Judgment about when to build the durable version and when to ship the version that answers the question this week

Required Skills

Nice to have: browser automation, third-party integration work (SFTP, CRMs, OAuth), Azure, or prior time at a seed-stage company.
