Key Responsibilities in Export Commercial FinanceA successful head of finance in international trade must master several complex, cross-border financial domains:
- Forex Management & Hedging: Mitigating currency risk via forward contracts and managing Export Credit Guarantee Corporation (ECGC) policies to protect against buyer defaults. [1, 2, 3]
- Trade Finance & Credit: Securing working capital through pre-shipment credit, post-shipment discounting, and managing Letters of Credit (LC) with banks like the Export-Import Bank of India. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
- Compliance & Customs: Ensuring strict alignment with Foreign Trade Policy (FTP) guidelines, handling High Seas Sales, and streamlining duty drawback and GST refund processes. [1, 2, 3]
- Commercial Profitability: Analyzing shipping freight costs, vendor negotiations, and pricing strategies to maximize margins in a highly competitive global market.
