They interpret blueprints, prepare materials, and operate equipment to exacting specifications, ensuring all structural bonds meet strict industry and safety standards.

- Core Responsibilities
- Equipment Setup: Calibrate, configure, and operate both Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW/MIG) and Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW/ARC) machines.
- Material Preparation: Read blueprints, structural drawings, and welding symbols to clean, cut, and fit metal pieces together prior to welding.
- Execution: Perform structural welds in various positions (e.g., vertical, overhead, flat) while controlling the heat to prevent metal warping or distortion.
- Post-Welding: Grind, buff, and inspect the finished welds for structural integrity, defects,



or porosity using precision instruments.
- Safety & Maintenance: Strictly follow safety protocols (PPE), wear protective gear, and maintain a clean work setting, including daily machine upkeep.
- Key Skills & Requirements
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of metal properties (steel, stainless steel, aluminum), wire electrodes, and shielding gases.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy materials (up to 20 kg), and work in confined or extreme-temperature environments.
- Education/Certification: Typically requires an ITI Welder (Industrial Training Institute) diploma, vocational training, or completed apprenticeship, alongside recognized certifications.
