Key job responsibilities
As a Software Development Engineer III (SDE3) on the Digital Pricing and Promotions team, you will design and build software solutions that power promotional capabilities across Amazon's Digital Acceleration (DA) businesses — including Kindle, Prime Video, and Music. You will own and evolve critical platforms that deliver promotional management, competitive pricing intelligence, and operational automation to pricing managers, business teams, and product managers across DA.
You will take meaningful ownership of key products — particularly the Promos UI platform — driving features from initial design through deployment and ongoing maintenance. Your work will span full-stack development: crafting user interfaces with contemporary web technologies, building robust backend services in Java on AWS, and integrating with Retail promotion systems such as PLM (Promotion Lifecycle Management).
In this role, you will make architectural decisions that balance near-term business needs with long-term scalability and maintainability.



You will think across systems — considering performance at scale, multi-business extensibility, and integration with diverse data sources and downstream services. You will lead technical designs independently, engage actively in design reviews, and provide substantive code review feedback that raises the bar for the team.
Collaboration is central to this role. You will work closely with operations teams, business stakeholders, Retail promotion platform teams, and partner engineering organizations. You will develop a deep understanding of customer workflows and pain points, translating them into well-designed, reliable solutions. You will champion operational excellence through proactive monitoring, incident response, and identifying opportunities for automation and process improvement.
