Expansion Partners is hiring a Business Analyst — Biofuels & Biomass

We work at the intersection of technology, energy markets and project development.

We are looking for a business analyst who can understand biofuels projects end-to-end — from feedstock to final molecule — and challenge assumptions across the value chain.

Key responsibilities:

• Understand key biofuels technologies (e.g. fermentation, gasification, Fischer–Tropsch, methanol synthesis, pyrolysis, upgrading)

• Compare pathways and their impact on CAPEX, OPEX, yields, energy balance and feedstock needs

• Analyse feedstock markets (availability, cost, logistics, sustainability, seasonality)

• Understand biofuels markets (biomethane, ethanol, SAF, renewable methanol, biodiesel)

• Assess offtake counterparties (pricing, credit,



strategy, bankability)

• Connect the full value chain into a coherent investment view

We are looking for someone who is analytically rigorous, fast-learning and intellectually curious, with the ability to work across engineering, commodities, finance and project development.

No need to know everything upfront — but you must be able to learn quickly, structure complex systems, and form explicit, defensible views.

Goal: identify which biofuels projects can actually be built, financed and sold.
