- Discovery Implementation & Support
- Configure and manage ServiceNow Discovery for on-prem and cloud environments
- Develop and maintain MID Servers, schedules, and credentials
- Troubleshoot discovery issues (classification, identification, exploration errors)
- Optimize discovery patterns and probes for performance and accuracy
- Service Mapping Development
- Design and implement top-down and tag-based Service Mapping
- Create and maintain Business Service Maps with accurate CI relationships
- Develop and customize patterns for application/service discovery
- Handle complex multi-tier applications (web, app, DB layers)
- Pattern & Probe Development
- Build and customize Discovery Patterns, probes, and sensors
- Work with scripting (JavaScript) for advanced pattern logic
- Debug pattern failures using logs and ECC queue
- CMDB Integration & Data Quality
- Ensure discovered data aligns with CMDB standards
- Work with Identification and Reconciliation Engine (IRE)
- Maintain CI class models and relationships in cmdb_ci and cmdb_rel_ci
- Improve CMDB health (completeness,
correctness, compliance)
- Cloud & Modern Infrastructure
- Implement discovery for cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Work with containerized environments (Kubernetes, Docker) where applicable
- Integrate with external tools (monitoring, asset systems)
- Performance & Optimization
- Tune discovery schedules and reduce scan time
- Optimize MID Server performance and load balancing
- Identify and eliminate duplicate CI creation
- Collaboration & Support
- Work with infrastructure, network, and application teams
- Provide L3 support for Discovery and Service Mapping issues.
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with ServiceNow Discovery & ServiceMapping
- Expertise in:
- Discovery Patterns, Probes & Sensors
- MID Server setup and troubleshooting
- ECC Queue debugging
