Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Design Engineer with robust expertise in Sheet Metal Tool Design, Press Tools, Draw & Forming Tools, Drill Jigs and Welding Fixtures. The candidate should have hands-on experience in CAD-based design, tooling development, prototype trials and technical documentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Sheet Metal Press, Draw and Forming Tools, Drill Jigs and Welding Fixtures for sub-assemblies using CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks and CATIA.
- Create 2D drawings and 3D models for manufacturing, including Press Tools, Jigs, Welding Fixtures, Plug Gauges and Receiver Gauges for sheet metal components.
- Develop tooling concepts for Single Operation, Multiple Operation and Progressive Tools based on production requirements and engineering specifications.
- Prepare Tool & Fixture Costing.
- Evaluate material suitability and mechanical properties for tool components.
- Coordinate prototype activities for fabrication of initial tool designs and parts.
- Evaluate prototypes and conduct Tool and Part Trial Runs to ensure design integrity.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance and Purchase departments.
- Participate in DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effect Analysis) and PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) activities.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering drawings and BOMs (Bill of Materials).
- Support cost-reduction initiatives through optimized design.
- Plan and monitor timelines for tool design and delivery.
