Key Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python.
* Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, functions, and database
objects.
* Design normalized and scalable PostgreSQL database schemas.
* Optimize SQL queries and database performance for large datasets.
* Troubleshoot database performance issues using query execution plans and
indexing strategies.
* Write database migrations and maintain data integrity across releases.
* Build REST APIs and integrate them with backend services.
* Collaborate with application developers to design efficient data models.
* Participate in code reviews focusing on both application and database
quality.
* Create unit and integration tests for backend components.
* Support deployment activities and production issue resolution when
required.

Required Skills

* 4+ years of backend software development experience.
* Strong hands-on experience with PostgreSQL.
* Excellent SQL skills, including:
* Complex joins
* CTEs




* Window functions
* Views
* Stored Procedures
* Functions
* Triggers
* Performance tuning
* Indexing strategies
* Experience writing and optimizing production-grade SQL queries.
* Strong understanding of relational database design and normalization.
* Hands-on experience with Python backend development.
* Experience building REST APIs.
* Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows.
* Experience debugging production database issues.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Must Have

3+ years skilled Python backend experience

Real experience with both Django and FastAPI

Can write SQL stored procedures, not just basic queries (this will be tested
— most "Python devs" fail here)

PostgreSQL preferred; other relational DB ok if SQL skills are strong

Can work independently with minimal onboarding
