We want people who are passionate about building features that you and your peers will love for DigitalOcean’s Managed Databases. The team builds and runs the services and infrastructure for the DigitalOcean DBaaS product. We handle the full life cycle of Managed Databases from the APIs that let users create and manage their databases to software that automates the running, upgrading, and health of databases. We are looking for a seasoned engineer to work on a small team focused on Database-as-a-Service products.



This role reports to the Senior Engineering Manager of the DBaaS team within the Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) organization in Engineering. This role will involve technical leadership to scale our database platform to meet the needs of our growing customer base.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop and enhance customer-facing Managed Database (DBaaS) products.
- Design and build scalable, resilient backend services.
- Own end-to-end technical solutions from architecture to production.
- Provide technical leadership across multiple engineering projects.
- Mentor and guide engineers through code reviews and technical discussions.
- Improve system design, scalability, reliability, availability, and performance.
- Build and maintain globally distributed systems on Kubernetes.
- Author and review technical design documents.
- Develop backend services and APIs using Go (Golang).
- Perform code reviews and drive engineering best practices.
- Provide last-line production support for DBaaS produ
