Caliper Lab is an independent AI capability measurement institution. We work with private equity firms and advisory firms on several key questions, primarily centered around when a software company claims AI capability, is that claim real, and how defensible is it. We build evaluation environments, run structured tests against live products, and publish what we find.

We are hiring a Principal to lead engagement delivery, managing our overall research agenda and support our product/ system build

The role
- Convert an ambiguous client question into a structured workplan and a defensible method
- Sequence and quality-control work across our engineers and data scientists
- Own delivery timelines and the standard of what reaches a client
- Build directly. You will design tests, construct evaluation environments, and run analysis yourself
- Lead client conversations with deal teams and advisory partners

What we are looking for
- Seven to ten years across consulting and technical delivery
- Experience at an MBB analytics arm, QuantumBlack, BCG X, Bain Vector, a Big 4 AI practice,



or an analytics consultancy such as ZS, Fractal, Tiger Analytics, or Tredence
- You have managed teams of data scientists and engineers on client engagements
- You have worked with private equity clients, ideally on diligence
- You understand AI systems well enough to design a test and challenge a methodology
- You can read and write code, and you can storyline a finding for an investor audience
- Evaluation, benchmarking, or LLM assessment experience is a solid advantage
- Very strong communication skills, ability to lead conversation with PE firms, large enterprise globally

We are building something at the intersection of AI research, software investing, and measurement. We want high-agency people who own work end to end, deliver under real client timelines, and help build and scale the systems underneath.
