Role & responsibilities

verseeing daily operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, managing inventory, supervising staff, and handling complex clinical cases like transfusion reactions, donor management, and specialized component preparation (apheresis, plasma exchange). Key duties include laboratory management (testing, quality control), clinical consultation (advising on blood usage), staff training, and developing transfusion strategies for conditions like thalassemia, all while focusing on patient safety and resource optimization, requiring expertise in immunohematology and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). 1. Key Responsibilities:
- Operations & Management: Oversee all blood bank operations, inventory, logistics, and adherence to quality standards (like NABH/GMP).
- Donor Management: Develop strategies for donor recruitment, retention, and effective blood collection.
- Laboratory Oversight: Supervise blood collection, processing, component preparation, and advanced testing (TTIs, immunohematology).
- Clinical Consultation: Advise clinicians on appropriate blood use,



manage transfusion reactions, and plan transfusion support.
- Specialized Services: Perform/manage apheresis (therapeutic/donor), plasma exchange, and other specialized procedures.
- Quality Assurance: Implement QMS, participate in audits, ensure equipment calibration, and maintain accurate records.
- Staff Development: Train, mentor, and manage technical and nursing staff.

2. Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: MD/DNB in Transfusion Medicine, Pathology, or equivalent.
- Experience: Minimum 3+ years post-PG in a recognized blood bank/transfusion medicine department.
- Skills: Strong knowledge of transfusion medicine principles, immunohematology, regulatory standards, communication, and leadership.
