About the Role

Khatib & Alami is seeking an experienced Senior Ecologist to join our Environmental Studies team. The successful candidate will support multidisciplinary infrastructure and development projects by leading ecological and biodiversity assessments, conducting field surveys, preparing technical reports, and ensuring compliance with international environmental standards and regional biodiversity requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct ecological baseline surveys, habitat assessments, and biodiversity studies for infrastructure and development projects.
- Prepare Ecological Impact Assessments (EIA/ESIA), Natural System Reports (NSR), biodiversity assessments, and ecological monitoring reports.
- Identify flora, fauna, and protected species, and evaluate ecological sensitivities and potential project impacts.
- Develop mitigation measures, biodiversity management plans, habitat restoration, and biodiversity offset strategies.
- Perform habitat mapping and ecological analysis using GIS tools.




- Ensure compliance with international standards such as IFC Performance Standard 6 (PS6), IUCN, CBD, and regional environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and support client discussions on ecological and biodiversity matters.
- Participate in field surveys, technical reviews, and project documentation.

Requirements
- Master's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, Botany, Zoology, Natural Resource Management, or a related discipline.
- 1016 years of skilled experience in ecological surveys, biodiversity assessments, and environmental studies.
- Strong experience in EIA/ESIA, ecological monitoring, habitat assessments, and biodiversity conservation.
- Proficiency in GIS tools such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Knowledge of IUCN Red List, IFC PS6, CBD, critical habitat assessments, and biodiversity offset principles.
- Experience in infrastructure projects such as roads, rail, water, urban development, or utilities is preferred.
