Key Responsibilities
- Deliver protected, evidence-based nursing care to admitted and outpatient patients.
- Monitor, assess, and document patients' vital signs and clinical condition.
- Administer medications, IV fluids, injections, blood transfusions, and treatments as prescribed by consultants.
- Assist doctors during examinations, surgeries, medical procedures, emergencies, and diagnostic interventions.
- Maintain accurate nursing documentation in the Hospital Information System (HIS/HIMS).
- Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, surgical procedures, and post-operative recovery.
- Ensure strict compliance with Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) protocols.
- Maintain patient safety, dignity, confidentiality, and privacy.
- Educate patients and their attendants regarding treatment plans, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive healthcare.
- Handle emergency situations efficiently and participate in Code Blue/Code Red response teams.
- Coordinate effectively with consultants, residents, technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
- Maintain inventory of medicines, consumables, and medical equipment in the assigned unit.
- Follow NABH, NMC, biomedical waste management, and hospital quality protocols.
- Participate in departmental meetings, clinical audits, CME programs, and continuous nursing education.
- Perform shift duties, including rotational night shifts, weekends, and public holidays as per hospital requirements. These responsibilities align with common staff nurse roles in tertiary-care hospitals.
