The Supply Chain Incharge is responsible for managing the procurement, inventory control, storage, distribution, and supply of medicines, surgical consumables, and other pharmacy-related items. The role ensures uninterrupted availability of stock while maintaining cost-effectiveness and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
1. Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels of medicines, consumables, and surgical items.
- Maintain minimum, maximum, and reorder stock levels.
- Conduct periodic physical stock verification and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor expiry dates and ensure timely utilization or return of near-expiry items.
- Control inventory losses due to damage, expiry, or pilferage.
2. Procurement & Vendor Management
- Raise purchase requisitions based on consumption patterns and stock requirements.
- Coordinate with approved vendors for timely procurement.
- Obtain quotations and compare prices as per procurement policy.
- Follow up with suppliers regarding pending deliveries.
- Maintain vendor performance records.
3. Goods Receipt & Storage
- Verify received materials against purchase orders and invoices.
- Ensure proper storage conditions as per manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain FEFO (First Expiry First Out) and FIFO (First In First Out) practices.
- Ensure proper documentation of inward and outward stock movements.
4. Distribution & Supply Chain Coordination
- Ensure timely supply of medicines and consumables to all hospital departments.
- Coordinate with pharmacy stores, nursing units, OT, ICU, and other departments.
- Handle urgent and emergency supply requirements.
- Maintain records of departmental stock transfers.
5. Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate inventory and procurement records.
