A VMC (Vertical Machining Center) Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining CNC VMC machines to manufacture precision components according to engineering drawings and specifications.

VMC Operator – Work Description
- Read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints, and job orders.
- Set up the VMC machine by installing tools, fixtures, and workpieces.
- Load and edit CNC programs as required.
- Operate the VMC machine to produce components accurately.
- Measure finished parts using precision instruments such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and height gauges.
- Inspect components to ensure they meet quality standards and dimensional tolerances.
- Replace worn or damaged cutting tools and adjust machine settings when necessary.
- Perform routine machine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Record production data, inspection results, and machine maintenance activities.




- Coordinate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth operations.

Required Skills
- Knowledge of CNC/VMC machine operation.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with measuring instruments.
- Basic understanding of G-code and M-code.
- Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Typical Qualifications
- ITI/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience and Freshers also operating CNC/VMC machines (preferred for experienced positions).
