Designation - Librian Executive
Reporting to : Operations Head and Principal as well as Vice Principal.
Primary Purpose : The primary purpose of a Librarian is to promote and develop the school library in order to provide an efficient service to pupils and staff. Ensure an accurate inventory of resources. Should encourage the use of library through a range of library-based activities to promote positive attitude towards school library.
Role & responsibilities
Academic Support:
- Ensure the students develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, exposure to diversity of genres and using resources available to solve problems.
- Empower them to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information
- Serve as a teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library is involved in instructional programs of the school.
- Create and maintain a teaching- learning environment that is welcoming, protected, flexible,
and conducive to student learning in the school library
- Should develop and maintain a collection of resources that is appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school.
- Establish processes and procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation, and resource sharing
- Ensure the library management system is maintained and supporting its use by student
- Should effectively plan school library program to meet identified needs
- Ensure that the school library program (SLP) is aligned with the mission, goals and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the learning/instructional program
- Must be updated with professional practices and developments, information technologies and educational research applicable to school library programs
