About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Infrastructure Engineer with strong hands-on experience in Linux and Windows administration, middleware/application server management, infrastructure sizing, deployment support and basic networking.

The person will be responsible for managing infrastructure requirements for our customer implementations involving:

- Finastra Essence Core Banking
- Newgen Solutions
- TestNova
- Other enterprise banking applications and internal engineering environments

The role will involve both customer-facing infrastructure discussions and hands-on administration of servers and environments used for implementation, testing, engineering and product development.

The candidate should be comfortable discussing infrastructure architecture and sizing with bank IT teams as well as configuring and troubleshooting the underlying environments.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Implementation Infrastructure

- Understand infrastructure requirements for banking application implementations including Essence, Newgen, TestNova and related solutions.
- Work with bank infrastructure teams to define and validate:
- Server requirements
- CPU and memory sizing
- Storage requirements
- Operating system requirements
- Application server requirements
- Network and connectivity requirements
- High availability requirements
- Backup and disaster recovery considerations

- Participate in infrastructure discussions with customer IT teams and answer technical infrastructure queries.
- Review proposed infrastructure architecture and identify potential performance, capacity or availability risks.
- Support installation, configuration and deployment of application environments across Development, SIT, UAT, Production and DR environments.

Middleware & Application Server Administration

Mandatory hands-on experience with the following platforms is expected:

- IBM WebSphere Application Server
- IBM HTTP Server
- Apache Tomcat
- Apache HTTP Server

Responsibilities will include:

- Installation and configuration
- Application deployment
- JVM configuration
- Memory and heap configuration
- Thread and connection pool configuration
- SSL / certificate configuration
- Web server and application server integration
- Log analysis
- Performance monitoring
- Troubleshooting application server issues
- Patch and version management
- Environment cloning and configuration

Linux & Windows Administration

The candidate must have strong administration skills across both Linux and Windows Server environments.

Responsibilities include:

- Server installation and configuration
- User and group administration
- Access and permission management
- File system management
- Disk and storage management
- CPU and memory monitoring




- Process and service management
- Scheduled jobs and services
- Log monitoring and troubleshooting
- OS patching and upgrades
- Port and firewall configuration
- Remote access configuration
- Environment variable and system configuration management
- Server health monitoring
- Performance troubleshooting

Infrastructure Sizing & Solutioning

The candidate should be able to participate confidently in infrastructure sizing discussions.

Internal Infrastructure Management

The person will also be responsible for managing and supporting internal environments used by our engineering and delivery teams, including:

- BAT environments
- Module testing environments
- TestNova engineering/testing environments
- Development environments
- Integration environments
- Internal demo environments
- Product engineering servers

Responsibilities will include:

- Environment provisioning
- Server configuration
- Application deployment
- Resource monitoring
- Capacity management
- User access management
- Environment availability
- Troubleshooting
- Backup coordination
- Server housekeeping
- Performance monitoring

Networking Knowledge

The candidate should have working knowledge of basic enterprise networking concepts including:

- IP addressing
- Subnets
- DNS
- DHCP
- TCP/IP
- Ports and protocols
- NAT
- Routing basics
- Firewalls
- Load balancers
- Reverse proxies
- SSL/TLS certificates
- VPN connectivity
- Network latency and connectivity troubleshooting

The person should be able to work effectively with customer and internal network teams while diagnosing infrastructure or application connectivity issues.

Database & Storage Awareness

Working knowledge of enterprise database and storage environments is desirable.

The candidate should understand concepts such as:

- Database server infrastructure requirements
- Storage allocation
- SAN / NAS concepts
- RAID
- Disk IOPS
- Database storage growth
- Backup storage
- Log storage
- High availability
- Disaster recovery
- Replication

Exposure to Oracle Database, SQL Server or PostgreSQL infrastructure will be an advantage.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting

The candidate should be able to identify and troubleshoot common infrastructure problems including:

- High CPU utilization
- Memory exhaustion
- Disk space issues
- Application server failures
- JVM memory issues
- Slow application response
- Network connectivity problems
- Port conflicts
- Certificate issues
- Service failures
- Excessive application logs
- File system growth
- Server resource bottlenecks

The person should proactively monitor environments and identify potential problems before they impact engineering teams or customer implementations.

Mandatory Skills





- Minimum 5 years of relevant infrastructure / system administration experience
- Strong Linux administration skills
- Strong Windows Server administration skills
- Experience administering enterprise application servers / middleware
- Hands-on experience with at least one of:
- IBM WebSphere
- IBM HTTP Server
- Apache Tomcat
- Apache HTTP Server
- Oracle WebLogic

- Experience deploying and supporting enterprise applications
- Good understanding of server hardware, CPU, memory and storage sizing
- Basic-to-intermediate networking knowledge
- Experience troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues
- Understanding of production, UAT, SIT, development and DR environments
- Ability to interact directly with customer infrastructure teams
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills

- Ask the right questions before recommending an environment.
- Explain infrastructure requirements in straightforward terms.
- Participate in infrastructure sizing discussions.
- Challenge incorrect or risky infrastructure decisions constructively.
- Coordinate with server, storage, database, middleware, security and networking teams.
- Document infrastructure prerequisites and architecture.
- Troubleshoot problems jointly with customer teams.
- Escalate to specialist teams where deeper expertise is required.

We are specifically looking for someone who is more than a traditional system administrator.

The ideal candidate should be able to:

- Manage servers hands-on.
- Configure middleware and application servers.
- Troubleshoot application infrastructure.
- Understand enterprise application architecture.
- Discuss infrastructure sizing with a bank.
- Work with networking, storage, security and database teams.
- Manage multiple internal and customer environments.
- Take ownership of infrastructure issues until resolution.

The candidate should be comfortable switching between hands-on technical administration and customer-facing infrastructure solutioning.
