SolidWorks AI Automation Engineer

About the Role

Were looking for a SolidWorks AI Automation Engineer to build intelligent, API-driven product configurators and automation tools on top of SolidWorks. This role sits at the intersection of mechanical CAD engineering and AI/software development you’ll design systems that let non-CAD users (sales teams, customers, distributors) generate accurate, manufacturable product variants automatically, backed by parametric CAD logic and AI assisted decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop AI-powered product configurators that generate SolidWorks models, drawings, and BOMs based on user inputs or business rules

- Build and maintain SolidWorks API integrations (VBA, C#/.NET, or Python via COM) to automate part/assembly generation, drawing creation, and file management

- Develop parametric CAD models and design tables that support rules-driven configuration logic.





- Integrate SolidWorks automation with web-based front-ends and backend systems (REST APIs, databases) so configurators can be used outside the native CAD workplace.

- Apply AI/ML techniques (e.g., LLMs, rules engines, recommendation logic) to validate configurations, suggest design options, or catch manufacturability issues automatically

- Work with SolidWorks PDM (or equivalent) to manage version control, revisions, anddata integrity across automated workflows

- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, software developers, and product/sales teams to translate configuration requirements into working automation

- Test, debug, and optimize automation scripts and configurator logic for reliability at scale

- Document APIs, workflows, and configurator rule sets for internal and customer-facing use
