About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Node.js / NestJS Developer with 5+ years of backend development experience to join our engineering team.

The ideal candidate should have strong expertise in Node.js, NestJS, SQL/NoSQL databases, microservices, asynchronous processing, AWS, system design, and CI/CD. The candidate should be comfortable designing scalable backend systems, optimizing application and database performance, and working closely with frontend and DevOps teams.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Node.js and NestJS.
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Build and maintain microservices-based architectures.
- Design database schemas and optimize queries for high-performance applications.
- Work with MySQL/PostgreSQL and MongoDB, including indexing, aggregation, transactions, and query optimization.
- Implement queues, background jobs, scheduled tasks, and asynchronous processing.
- Work with messaging/queue technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, BullMQ, or equivalent.
- Design reliable and scalable systems considering performance, availability, scalability, and fault tolerance.
- Work with AWS services for application deployment, storage, databases, messaging, monitoring, and infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, building, and deployment.
- Follow Git-based version control practices and collaborate through code reviews and pull requests.
- Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement long-term solutions.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and well-documented code.
- Participate in system design and technical architecture discussions.
- Mentor junior and mid-level developers and contribute to engineering best practices.
- Collaborate with frontend developers working with React/Angular to design and integrate APIs effectively.

Strong understanding of Low-Level Design (LLD) and High-Level Design (HLD).

- Automated testing and deployment.
- Docker/containerization.
- Environment management for development, staging, and production.

Frontend Exposure

Frontend expertise is not mandatory, but candidates should have working knowledge of:

- React.js and/or Angular
- JavaScript/TypeScript
- REST API integration
- Authentication flows
- Basic frontend architecture

The candidate should be comfortable collaborating with frontend developers and understanding how backend APIs are consumed by web applications.

Good to Have

- Redis and caching strategies.
- Docker and Kubernetes.

- WebSockets / Server-Sent Events.
- Elasticsearch/OpenSearch.
- Observability and monitoring.
- Unit and integration testing using Jest or similar frameworks.
