An Executive / Senior Executive role in the New Materials Study function of the Armor Product Engineering Department, responsible for supporting the identification, evaluation, characterization, and qualification of new materials for ballistic protection systems, including Hard Armor Plates, Soft Armor Panels, Vehicle Armor, Helmet Systems, and Shield Systems. The role supports technology scouting, laboratory testing, supplier evaluation, and material database management, and contributes accurate technical documentation and data-driven recommendations that enable the New Materials Study team and future product development projects to make informed material selection decisions.

Role & responsibilities

Material Research & Technology Scouting

- Conduct structured literature reviews and technical journal searches to identify emerging materials relevant to ballistic protection.
- Track and summarize patents and published research on new fiber, ceramics, and coating technologies.
- Carry out competitor and market benchmarking of ballistic materials and share findings with the New Materials Study Team.
- Study new manufacturing technologies and processes with potential application to armor materials.
- Maintain and regularly update a database of emerging materials and technology trends.

Supplier Identification & Material Procurement Support

- Identify and shortlist potential current material suppliers in coordination with Procurement.
- Request and review technical datasheets, certifications, and compliance documents from suppliers.
- Coordinate procurement of material samples for evaluation within agreed timelines.
- Maintain and update the approved supplier and material availability database.
- Coordinate execution of NDAs and maintain accurate records of supplier communication.

Material Evaluation & Testing

- Prepare material evaluation plans and testing matrices in line with project and Materials Study requirements.
- Coordinate and support internal and external testing, including sample preparation and characterization.




- Execute or support mechanical, physical, thermal, environmental, and adhesion testing of candidate materials.
- Perform fabric and composite characterization and chemical compatibility evaluations.
- Interpret test data, prepare comparison studies, and document conclusions in test reports.

Laboratory Coordination

- Coordinate testing activities with Internal Lab, QC, Manufacturing, and Ballistic Lab teams.
- Maintain and track testing schedules and follow up on pending test reports.
- Support maintenance of applicable calibration and traceability records for testing equipment.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

- Prepare Material Evaluation Reports, Technical Notes, Test Reports, and Qualification Reports within defined timelines.
- Prepare Supplier Evaluation Reports and Material Comparison Matrices to support decision-making.
- Maintain the Material Database, research repository, and sample traceability records.
- Maintain document revision history in accordance with departmental documentation standards.

Experimental Planning Support

- Support Design of Experiments (DOE) planning, including sample and test planning, under guidance of the Armor Head.
- Assist in statistical analysis, correlation studies, and root-cause analysis of test data.

Innovation & Technology Support

- Support identification and evaluation of high-performance fibers, ceramics, composites, elastomers, adhesives, and other advanced materials relevant to ballistic protection.
- Prepare and present technology update presentations to the Materials Study Team.

Preferred candidate profile

Qualification

B.Tech/M.Tech in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Ceramic Engineering, Composite Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or an equivalent discipline.

Experience Executive

0 - 2 years of relevant experience.

Experience – Senior Executive

2 - 4 years of relevant experience. (including research experience after graduation)

Preferred Experience

Material characterization, composite materials, polymers, ceramics, material testing, protective materials, R&D; support, supplier evaluation, or laboratory testing.
