SketchUp Draftsperson / Technical Drafter – Remote

About the Role

DreamCast Design & Production is a Vancouver-based manufacturer of architectural concrete fireplace mantels and outdoor fire pits. We are looking for an experienced SketchUp Draftsperson / Technical Drafter to support our sales and production teams with accurate, order-specific drawings.

This is a technical production drafting role rather than a conceptual design position. You will work primarily in SketchUp and SketchUp LayOut, using our existing product models, dynamic components and drawing standards to prepare customer approval drawings and order-specific revisions.

Some components, such as aluminum plates and other fabricated parts, require CAD drawings, so working knowledge of CAD software is also required.

Many of our orders involve dimensional changes, custom configurations, appliance specifications and multiple revisions. The ability to interpret technical information carefully, make accurate changes and identify inconsistencies is essential.

You will work remotely from India and communicate directly with our Vancouver team throughout the day. A minimum of four hours of daily overlap with Pacific Time is required so drawings can be reviewed and revisions completed promptly.

Responsibilities

- Prepare accurate SketchUp drawings for fireplace mantels, fire pits and related architectural products
- Modify existing SketchUp models based on customer dimensions, appliance specifications and order requirements
- Create order-specific drawings from standard product models
- Prepare drawing sheets and presentation documents using SketchUp LayOut
- Build, modify and implement Dynamic Components in SketchUp
- Prepare or revise CAD drawings for fabricated components, including aluminum plates and similar parts
- Complete revisions based on feedback from customers, sales and production
- Add and verify dimensions, measurements and product details
- Review appliance manuals, specification sheets and technical documents to confirm required clearances, dimensions and installation requirements
- Read and interpret architectural drawings, interior design drawings, elevations, plans and related construction documents
- Identify conflicting, incomplete or unclear information before drawings are finalized
- Maintain organized SketchUp, LayOut and CAD files, including revision history
- Prepare explicit drawings for customer review and approval




- Work closely with the sales team to complete revisions quickly
- Communicate directly with team members regarding drawing requirements and questions
- Follow established product dimensions, standards and drawing procedures
- Manage multiple active drawings and revisions at the same time
- Meet required turnaround times while maintaining accuracy

Qualifications

- Minimum 3–5 years of professional technical drafting experience
- Advanced proficiency in SketchUp
- Strong working knowledge of SketchUp LayOut
- Demonstrated experience building and working with Dynamic Components in SketchUp
- Working knowledge of CAD software, with the ability to create and revise 2D component drawings
- Strong technical drawing and dimensioning skills
- Ability to read and understand appliance measurements, specification sheets and installation requirements
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings
- Experience preparing drawings for manufacturing, construction, fabrication or architectural products
- Strong understanding of dimensions, scale, clearances and spatial relationships
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to follow detailed revision instructions accurately
- Strong written and spoken English
- Comfortable communicating directly with a North American sales and production team
- Able to work independently with limited supervision
- Comfortable managing multiple revisions and priorities

Preferred Experience

Experience in any of the following would be particularly relevant:

- Architectural products
- Fireplace or stone products
- Millwork or cabinetry
- Furniture
- Concrete products
- Metal or aluminum fabrication
- Interior architectural detailing
- Custom manufacturing or fabrication
- Residential construction

An architecture degree is not required. We are primarily looking for solid practical SketchUp ability, technical accuracy, CAD competency and relevant drafting experience.

Working Schedule

This is a remote position based in India.

Your schedule may be flexible, but you must be available for at least four working hours each day that overlap with our Vancouver team during Pacific Time. The remaining work-day hours to perform the work are at your discretion.





This overlap is required for drawing reviews, revision discussions, clarification of order requirements and time-sensitive changes.

Candidates should be comfortable working evening hours in India.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone who is fast, accurate and comfortable working within established product designs.

You should be able to receive an existing SketchUp model together with customer dimensions, appliance specifications, architectural drawings and revision instructions, understand what needs to change, identify anything that does not make sense, and return an accurate revised drawing without extensive supervision.

You should also be comfortable developing and modifying Dynamic Components and switching between SketchUp and CAD when a particular component requires a fabrication-style 2D drawing.

This position requires strong attention to detail. These drawings are used for real customer orders and production, so incorrect dimensions, misunderstood specifications or missed revisions can result in costly errors.

Compensation

₹55,000–₹65,000 per month, depending on experience and demonstrated technical ability.

Exceptional candidates with particularly solid architectural, manufacturing, CAD or advanced SketchUp experience may be considered above this range.

Hiring Process

All shortlisted candidates will be required to complete a practical drawing test before qualifying for an interview.

The test will involve reviewing existing product information and completing a series of drawing requirements and revisions.
