Job Title: Operations Manager – Hospital
Department: Hospital Administration / Operations
Reports To: Hospital Administrator / Chief Operating Officer / Medical Superintendent
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Summary

The Hospital Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational activities of the hospital. The role ensures that clinical and non-clinical departments function efficiently, patients receive high-quality service, regulatory requirements are followed, and hospital resources are utilized effectively.

Key Responsibilities1. Hospital Operations

- Manage daily operations across clinical and non-clinical departments.
- Ensure smooth coordination between doctors, nurses, administration, front office, laboratory, pharmacy, billing, housekeeping, security, and other departments.
- Monitor patient flow, admissions, discharges, appointments, and waiting times.
- Identify operational problems and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure adequate staffing and productive utilization of hospital resources.

2. Patient Experience

- Monitor patient satisfaction and address complaints and grievances.
- Improve patient service standards and reduce waiting times.
- Ensure proper communication with patients and their attendants.
- Develop and implement processes to improve the overall patient experience.

3. Staff & Team Management

- Supervise administrative and support staff.
- Coordinate staff schedules, attendance, and manpower requirements.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation.
- Promote teamwork, discipline, professional conduct, and accountability.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and performance reviews.

4. Quality & Compliance





- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, applicable healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Support implementation of quality management and patient-safety initiatives.
- Monitor SOP compliance across departments.
- Coordinate internal audits and corrective/preventive actions.
- Maintain proper documentation and operational records.

5. Financial & Resource Management

- Monitor departmental expenses and operational budgets.
- Control unnecessary expenditure while maintaining service quality.
- Ensure optimum utilization of hospital equipment, supplies, beds, and other resources.
- Coordinate with finance and billing teams to improve revenue-cycle efficiency.

6. Facility & Support Services

- Oversee housekeeping, security, maintenance, biomedical equipment support, laundry, dietary services, waste management, and other support functions.
- Ensure cleanliness, hygiene, safety, and proper maintenance of hospital facilities.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.

7. Reporting & Performance Monitoring

- Prepare and review operational reports and management dashboards.
- Track KPIs such as patient volume, occupancy, waiting time, patient satisfaction, revenue, expenses, and departmental productivity.
- Present operational performance reports to senior management.




- Recommend improvements based on data and operational trends.

8. Emergency & Risk Management

- Support emergency preparedness and business-continuity planning.
- Ensure hospital safety and risk-management procedures are followed.
- Coordinate response to operational emergencies and critical incidents.
- Participate in disaster-management and emergency drills.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Hospital Administration, Healthcare Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree/MHA/MBA in Healthcare or Hospital Management is preferred.
- Relevant experience in hospital or healthcare operations.
