Job Description – Project Manager – Power Plant

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Project Manager – Power Plant to lead and manage power plant projects from initiation through completion.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience and knowledge of Biomass Gasification Projects. The selected candidate will be responsible for overall project planning, execution, monitoring, coordination, and closure, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and according to required quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate should have strong leadership capabilities, sound technical knowledge of power plant systems, and proven experience managing complex industrial or energy-sector projects.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan, coordinate, and execute power plant projects, including construction, modernization, maintenance, and decommissioning.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, and risk assessments.
- Prepare and monitor project schedules using MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar tools.
- Lead cross-functional project teams involving Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning, Quality, and Safety personnel.
- Coordinate with clients, utility companies, regulatory authorities, EPC contractors, consultants, suppliers, and internal management.
- Monitor project progress against approved schedules, budgets, scope, and quality requirements.




- Establish and track project KPIs and provide regular progress reports to senior management.
- Manage project documentation, contracts, procurement activities, and change orders.
- Identify potential project risks and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
- Resolve technical, commercial, and execution-related issues to minimize project delays and cost overruns.
- Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate commissioning, testing, performance evaluation, and project handover activities.
- Ensure completed systems meet operational, quality, and contractual requirements.
- Support client communication and maintain solid stakeholder relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications & Experience

- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline.
- 7–10 years of relevant project management experience in the power generation, energy, industrial, or infrastructure sector.
- Proven experience managing medium-scale industrial projects.
- Strong understanding of power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, electrical systems, and associated balance-of-plant systems.
- Proficiency in MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent project management software.
- Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, coordination,



and organizational skills.
- Good understanding of project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and execution.
- Knowledge of applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

PMP certification or equivalent project management certification will be strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience

- Experience working with EPC (Engineering, Procurement & Construction) projects and contracts.
- Experience in Biomass Gasification Power Projects will be highly preferred.
- Experience in conventional power generation or renewable energy projects.
- Experience in project construction, commissioning, and plant start-up.
- Familiarity with permitting, statutory approvals, and regulatory compliance.
- Experience working with international clients or projects will be an added advantage.

Working Conditions

- The position may require frequent travel to project sites, including remote and industrial locations in India and overseas.
- The candidate should be comfortable working in industrial, construction, and outdoor environments as required by the project.
- Flexibility to work according to project schedules and site requirements is essential.
