Job Purpose
To assist the nursing and clinical team in providing safe, hygienic, and efficient basic support services to patients and maintain cleanliness and orderliness within the assigned ward.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Patient Assistance
- Assist patients with basic mobility and movement as instructed by nursing staff.
- Assist in shifting and transferring patients using appropriate equipment.
- Assist patients in moving between wards, OPD, diagnostics, operation theatre, and other departments.
- Provide support to patients and attendants as directed by the nursing team.
- Assist in wheelchair and stretcher handling.
B. Nursing & Clinical Support
- Assist nursing staff with non-clinical patient care activities as instructed.
- Collect and transport patient-related materials, samples, reports, files, and documents as authorized.
- Assist in preparing beds and patient areas.
- Support the nursing team during patient transfer and other routine activities.
- Immediately report any patient-related concern observed during duty to the concerned nurse.
C. Ward Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of patient-care areas in coordination with housekeeping staff.
- Ensure beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and patient-care equipment are kept clean and ready for use.
- Follow hospital infection-control and hygiene practices.
- Dispose of waste only in designated areas and follow biomedical waste segregation procedures as instructed.
D. Patient Transfer & Transportation
- Safely transport patients using wheelchairs, stretchers, or beds.
- Ensure appropriate safety precautions during patient transportation.
- Coordinate with concerned departments for investigations, procedures, admissions, and discharges.
- Ensure patient belongings and documents are handled carefully during transfers.
E. Support During Admission & Discharge
- Assist in shifting newly admitted patients to the assigned ward.
- Assist patients during discharge and transportation as instructed.
- Help transport patient belongings and documents when required.
F. Equipment & Materials
- Handle wheelchairs, stretchers, beds, and other assigned equipment carefully.
- Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment to the Nursing In-charge.
- Ensure commonly used support equipment is available and ready for use.
G. Communication & Discipline
- Maintain courteous and respectful behaviour with patients, attendants, doctors, nurses, and other staff.
- Follow instructions given by the Nursing In-charge and authorized hospital personnel.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Follow hospital rules, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and code of conduct.
3. Key Skills & Competencies
- Good patient-handling skills.
- Physically capable of assisting with patient movement and transportation.
- Basic understanding of hospital hygiene and safety practices.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Valuable communication and teamwork.
- Patient-friendly and courteous attitude.
- Ability to work in shifts, including night shifts.
- Knowledge of basic infection-control practices is preferred.
4. Qualification & Experience
Education: 8th / 10th / 12th Standard or equivalent, as per hospital requirements.
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred. Freshers may also be considered based on hospital requirements.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹18,000.00 per hour
