GKEL Backend Engineer (Experienced) – Python | ContractRole Overview

We are looking for an experienced Python Backend Engineer to build scalable backend services for a smart plant automation platform covering logistics, quality, gate, visitor, GRN, finance and reporting modules.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop scalable backend services using Python, FastAPI and Microservices architecture.
- Design and develop REST APIs for web and mobile applications.
- Design and manage MongoDB schemas and data models using PyMongo/MongoEngine.
- Build integrations with enterprise systems such as SAP, I3MS, FOIS, LIMS, DCS/Historian and GPS/VTS.
- Develop business workflows, approvals, reconciliation and exception-handling logic.
- Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage services on Kubernetes.
- Follow Git, CI/CD and code-quality practices.
- Support UAT, production issue resolution and go-live stabilization.

Requirements





- 2+ years of backend development experience with strong hands-on Python expertise.
- Strong experience with FastAPI and REST API development.
- Good understanding of Microservices architecture and asynchronous programming.
- Hands-on experience with MongoDB and document-database design.
- Practical experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience integrating third-party/enterprise APIs; SAP integration is an advantage.
- Positive understanding of Git and CI/CD pipelines.
- Preferred: Experience in industrial, manufacturing, logistics or IoT-based systems.
