Position: AI/ML Engineer (Gen AI)

Purpose of the Position:

The AI/ML Engineer (Generative AI) – G4 role focuses on developing, implementing, and supporting generative AI and machine learning solutions under the guidance of senior engineers and architects. The role is primarily an individual contributor position, responsible for building models, experimenting with GenAI techniques, supporting deployments, and contributing to AI solutions that address business requirements.

This role emphasizes hands‑on model development, prompt engineering, integration support, and continuous learning, with exposure to LLMs, retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG), and AI pipelines within enterprise environments. The engineer will work closely with data scientists, software engineers, and cloud teams to deliver reliable AI features while adhering to security, governance, and quality standards defined by the organization.

Key Result Areas (KRAs):

Model Development & Implementation

- Develop and fine‑tune machine learning and generative AI models using established frameworks and best practices.
- Assist in implementing LLM‑based solutions under defined architectures and guidelines.
- Support model training, evaluation, and validation activities.

Prompt Engineering & LLM Usage

- Design and refine prompts for LLM‑based applications to improve output relevance and accuracy.
- Assist in testing and evaluating generated responses against defined quality metrics.
- Work with APIs and foundation models as per solution requirements.

Data Preparation & Handling

- Perform data preprocessing, transformation, and validation for structured and unstructured datasets.
- Ensure data quality and consistency during model development and testing phases.

Integration & Support

- Support integration of AI/ML models into applications and workflows in collaboration with software engineering teams.
- Assist in deploying models using existing CI/CD and MLOps pipelines.
- Participate in troubleshooting model or application issues.

Continuous Learning & Improvement

- Stay updated with advancements in machine learning and generative AI.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, documentation, and technical discussions within the team.

Essential Skills:





- Python Programming: Working proficiency in Python for AI/ML development using libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Keras.
- Machine Learning Fundamentals: Understanding of core ML concepts including supervised/unsupervised learning, model evaluation, and basic deep learning principles.
- Generative AI & LLM Basics: Exposure to large language models, prompt engineering, and LLM usage via APIs.
- Model Training & Evaluation: Experience in training, fine‑tuning, and evaluating ML models with guidance from senior team members.
- Data Handling: Ability to preprocess and manage datasets required for model training and inference.
- Problem Solving: Ability to analyze problems and implement solutions under defined technical direction.
- Collaboration Skills: Capability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams including data scientists, engineers, and analysts.

Desirable Skills:

- Basic understanding of Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) concepts.
- Exposure to vector databases and embeddings.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for AI workloads.
- Working knowledge of FastAPI or Flask for serving models.
- Awareness of MLOps practices, CI/CD concepts, and model monitoring.
- Exposure to GenAI frameworks such as LangChain or Semantic Kernel is a plus.

Qualifications:

- 5 - 7 years of experience in AI/ML or data science roles, with exposure to generative AI or LLM‑based solutions.
- Bachelor or master degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in AI/ML or cloud platforms are an added advantage.
