The primary focus of this role is to develop and maintain C++ wrapper interfaces that enable interoperability between legacy Fortran or C++ codebases and newer applications, including desktop applications, VB-based front-end with automation tools like ROMeo.

The ideal candidate will also have strong experience in COM object development and integration, enabling robust communication between components in a Windows-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop C++ wrapper libraries to interface with existing desktop applications and legacy codebases.
- Enable seamless interoperability between Fortran/C++ computational modules and VB-based applications or miscellaneous desktop applications (standalone programs and ROMeo).
- Develop, integrate, and maintain COM objects/components for cross-language and application-level communication.

- Analyze existing legacy code (Fortran, VB, COM-based systems) and recommend modernization or optimization strategies.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code across multiple languages.
- Debug and troubleshoot issues related to:
- Cross-language data exchange
- COM interface interactions
- Memory management
- Performance bottlenecks
- Develop and execute unit and integration tests for wrapper and COM components.
- Collaborate with engineering and application teams to ensure functional and performance requirements are met.
- Produce explicit technical documentation, including:
- API interfaces
- COM object specifications (interfaces, GUIDs, registration)
- Integration guides
- Code comments and system architecture
- Support deployment and integration into production environments.

Deliverables

- Fully functional C++ wrapper modules enabling integration between systems.
- Working COM components/interfaces supporting application interoperability.
- Updated and refactored VB and Fortran code where required.
- Comprehensive technical documentation.
- Test cases and validation results demonstrating system integrity.

We wholeheartedly believe in the diversity of thought that comes with fostering a culture rooted in respect, where everyone belongs, is valued,

- Demonstrated experience in cross-language integration (e.g., C++ Fortran, C++ VB).
- Hands-on experience with COM (Component Object Model) including:
- Creating and consuming COM objects
- Understanding of interfaces, GUIDs, and registration
- Familiarity with COM threading models and marshaling
- Familiarity with:
- DLL creation and linking
- Calling conventions (cdecl, stdcall)
- Interoperability techniques (e.g., COM, ISO_C_BINDING)
- Experience working in Windows Server 2019 or later environment.
- Strong debugging, problem-solving and testing skills in mixed-language environments.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with legacy system modernization projects.
- Knowledge of numerical methods or engineering/scientific computing.
