Senior Vice President - Design (Existing Assets)
Reporting To - Chief Architect
Position Summary
The Senior Vice President - Design (Existing Assets) will lead the design management function for the organization's existing commercial real estate portfolio, ensuring that redevelopment, refurbishment, expansion, and asset enhancement projects align with the company's design vision, business objectives, and operational requirements.
The incumbent will provide architectural leadership from concept development through project completion, working closely with internal stakeholders, consultants, and execution partners to deliver innovative, compliant, sustainable, and commercially viable design solutions while maintaining the highest standards of functionality and aesthetics.
Key Responsibilities
Design Strategy & Leadership
- Develop design briefs and establish the overall design strategy for redevelopment, refurbishment, repositioning, and enhancement of existing commercial assets.
- Translate business objectives and management direction into practical, innovative, and commercially successful design solutions.
- Ensure consistency in design quality and architectural standards across the asset portfolio.
Design Management
- Lead the architectural design process from concept development through detailed design, construction documentation, execution support, and project completion.
- Review and approve design proposals, layouts, material palettes, façade concepts, and architectural specifications.
- Ensure timely delivery of all design milestones by coordinating with consultants, project teams, and external stakeholders.
Consultant & Stakeholder Management
- Lead the selection, appointment, and performance management of Design Architects, Consultants, and specialist agencies.
- Act as the primary design interface between consultants, Project Heads, PMCs, Contractors,
and internal business functions.
- Drive seamless collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure efficient project execution and adherence to timelines.
Technical Governance & Compliance
- Ensure all architectural designs comply with National Building Code (NBC), local development regulations, fire & life safety norms, accessibility standards, and other statutory requirements.
- Review design documentation for technical accuracy, constructability, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency.
- Monitor design quality throughout execution and provide technical guidance for resolving design-related issues.
Innovation & Design Excellence
- Introduce global best practices, emerging architectural trends, sustainable design principles, and cutting-edge construction methodologies.
- Promote value engineering initiatives that enhance functionality, user experience, sustainability, and lifecycle performance without compromising design intent.
- Continuously improve design standards and processes across the organization.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to internal architecture and design teams.
- Support senior management in strategic design decisions and long-term asset enhancement initiatives.
- Foster strong relationships with consultants, business leaders, and project teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Essential
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Architecture (B.Arch) from a reputed institution.
- Master's Degree in Architecture or Urban Design will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 20-25 years of experience in architectural design and design management for large-scale commercial, mixed-use, retail, office, or hospitality developments.
- Proven experience in managing complex redevelopment, refurbishment, or large commercial real estate projects.
- Strong understanding of architectural detailing, construction methodologies, materials, and building systems.
- Thorough knowledge of National Building Code (NBC), local development regulations, fire & life safety codes, accessibility norms, and statutory compliance.
