Overview

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer with robust experience in lighting design, electrical building services, and UK regulatory compliance. This role involves leading lighting and electrical design packages for commercial, residential, industrial, and public-sector projects across the UK. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of UK standards, low-carbon design principles, and modern lighting technologies.

Your role

Lighting Design & Engineering
- Lead the design of internal and external lighting systems, including concept development, detailed layouts, photometric calculations, and controls integration.
- Produce lighting calculations using industry tools such as Dialux, Relux, and AGi32.
- Prepare electrical infrastructure designs including LV distribution, power layouts, containment, cable sizing, and circuit schedules.
- Ensure all lighting designs meet UK-specific standards such as CIBSE lighting guides, BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations), BS EN 12464, and Building Regulations.

Technical Leadership & Coordination




- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, reviewing drawings, specifications, and calculations.
- Coordinate closely with architects, MEP consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
- Contribute to design team meetings, planning submissions, and client presentations.
- Ensure designs incorporate UK sustainability standards including BREEAM, Part L (energy efficiency), and low-carbon strategies.

Project Delivery & Site Support
- Manage project stages from feasibility and concept design through detailed design, tendering, and construction.
- Conduct site inspections, lighting level verification, snagging, and commissioning support.
- Prepare technical specifications, tender documentation, reports, and cost estimates.
- Resolve technical issues during construction and coordinate with contractors for smooth delivery.
