As a Senior Database
Developer at SKO Systems, you will serve as a subject matter expert in database
architecture, performance optimization, and backend integration across SKO’s
SaaS platforms. You will be responsible for designing efficient and scalable
data systems, leading SQL development efforts, ensuring high availability and
data integrity, and contributing to backend development in full-stack
environments. Additionally, you will participate in strategic technical
decisions, mentor junior developers, and collaborate with DevOps and Product
teams to ensure high-quality database solutions that meet business objectives.

Essential Functions / Deliverables

Database Architecture, Design & Development:

- Design relational and distributed database schemas for
scalability, performance, and normalisation.

- Develop and maintain SQL queries, PL/SQL packages, stored
procedures, views, triggers, and functions.

- Define and enforce data modelling standards.

- Support both OLTP and OLAP environments.

Performance Tuning & Optimization:

- Perform advanced query tuning, indexing strategies, and
plan analysis

- Identify and resolve bottlenecks and slow queries

- Optimize large-volume transactions and reporting
performance across databases

- Automate monitoring and alerting of performance issues

Database Administration and Environment Management:

- Manage deployments, patches, backups, restores, and
upgrades of Oracle/MySQL environments

- Implement high-availability and failover solutions

- Ensure data security, access controls, and audit
readiness

- Design strategies for replication and data migration

Backend and Full-Stack Integration:

- Work with backend developers (Python, Java) to
integrate database logic into applications

- Design and consume RESTful APIs to facilitate secure
data exchange





- Participate in full-stack development with occasional
involvement in frontend tasks (HTML/CSS/JS)

- .NET Framework, .NET CORE

Cross-functional Collaboration:

- Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product Managers, and UX
teams

- Translate business requirements into technical
specifications

- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint
planning, retrospectives, and demos

- Represent database engineering in cross-departmental
forums

Documentation, Standards & Governance:

- Create and maintain technical documentation, ER
diagrams, SOPs, and version history

- Promote database best practices, naming conventions,
and change control policies

- Contribute to SKO’s internal knowledge base and
technical wiki

Cloud Data Strategy & BI Tool Integration:

- Recommend and prototype cloud-native DB solutions
(e.g., AWS RDS, GCP Cloud SQL)

- Explore integration with BI/reporting platforms such as
SSRS, Power BI, Metabase

- Develop ETL/ELT data pipelines as required for
analytics initiatives

Mentoring & Continuous Improvement:

- Guide junior team members and perform code reviews

- Identify skills gaps and propose internal training
sessions

- Lead database-focused proof-of-concept (PoC)
initiatives and tech evaluations

Linux Environment & Shell Scripting

Cloud & BI Tool Experience (Bonus Skills)

Requirements

Education : Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field

Certifications (Preferred): : Certifications in Oracle / MySQL / AWS / GCP





Required Professional Experience : 8–10+ years of hands-on database development
experience in enterprise or product-based environments

Proven track record working on complex SQL systems,
backend integrations, and performance tuning

Technical/Computer Skills :

- Database Platforms: Oracle, MySQL

- Languages: SQL, PL/SQL, Python, Java, JavaScript

- Frameworks/Tools: Oracle Apex, REST APIs, SSRS/SSIS,
Shell Scripting

- Operating Systems: Windows, Linux (preferred)

- Other Skills:
· Query optimization
· ER modelling
· Backup & recovery solutions
· Source control (Git)

- Agile development tools (ADO, Confluence)
