Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Server Administrator responsible for managing and maintaining server infrastructure, virtualization platforms, backup systems, and data-centre operations. The candidate should have hands-on experience with Nutanix, VMware, Windows/Linux servers, backup technologies, storage, monitoring, and data-centre infrastructure.

The role involves ensuring high availability, performance, security, and reliability of the IT infrastructure while responding to incidents and performing preventive maintenance.

Key Responsibilities

Server Administration

- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux servers.
- Monitor server health, performance, CPU, memory, disk, and system availability.
- Perform OS patching, upgrades, hardening, and security updates.
- Manage user access, permissions, services, scheduled tasks, and system configurations.
- Troubleshoot hardware, operating-system, application, and connectivity issues.
- Maintain server documentation, configuration records, and operational procedures.

VMware Administration

- Administer VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter environments.
- Create, configure, clone, migrate, and manage virtual machines.
- Perform VM provisioning, resource allocation, snapshots, and troubleshooting.
- Monitor ESXi hosts, clusters, datastores, and virtual infrastructure.
- Perform VM migrations using vMotion/Storage vMotion where applicable.
- Troubleshoot virtualization performance and availability issues.
- Assist with VMware upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management.

Nutanix Administration

- Administer and monitor Nutanix AHV / Nutanix infrastructure.
- Manage virtual machines, clusters, storage, and resources.
- Monitor Nutanix cluster health and capacity.
- Troubleshoot Nutanix CVM, storage, networking, and VM-related issues.
- Perform routine maintenance, upgrades, and health checks.
- Work with Prism / Prism Central for monitoring and administration.




- Support capacity planning and infrastructure expansion.

Backup & Recovery
- Administer and monitor enterprise backup infrastructure.
- Configure backup jobs, schedules, retention policies, and backup repositories.
- Monitor daily backup success/failure and resolve backup issues.
- Perform file, VM, and application-level restoration as required.
- Conduct periodic backup recovery and DR testing.
- Maintain backup reports and ensure compliance with backup policies.
- Troubleshoot backup performance, storage, and connectivity issues.

Data Centre Operations

- Maintain and monitor physical and virtual infrastructure in the data centre.
- Coordinate server installation, rack mounting, cabling, and hardware replacement.
- Monitor power, cooling, environmental conditions, and physical security.
- Coordinate with hardware, network, storage, and facilities teams.
- Maintain asset inventory and data-centre documentation.
- Follow data-centre access, change-management, and safety procedures.
- Participate in planned maintenance and infrastructure migration activities.

Monitoring & Incident Management
- Monitor infrastructure using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Respond to alerts, incidents, and service requests within agreed SLAs.
- Perform root-cause analysis for recurring infrastructure issues.
- Escalate complex issues to vendors or specialist teams.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call / shift support, if required.

Required Technical Skills

- VMware: vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, HA, DRS, vMotion.
- Nutanix: AHV, Prism, Prism Central, cluster administration.
- Servers: Windows Server and/or Linux.
- Backup: Enterprise backup and restore technologies.
- Storage: SAN/NAS, datastores, storage capacity and performance monitoring.
- Networking: Basic understanding of VLAN, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, switches, and firewall concepts.
- Data Centre: Rack servers, cabling, UPS, power/cooling, hardware troubleshooting.
- Monitoring, patch management, incident management, and change management.
- Basic understanding of DR, high availability, RPO, and RTO.
