Role Summary
- The Tekla Modeller creates 3D models, connection details, and 2D fabrication/erection drawings from structural and architectural design drawings.
Key Responsibilities
- Build 3D Models: Create accurate structural steel and miscellaneous metal models using Tekla Structures.
- Apply Connections: Design standard and custom steel connections based on project engineering standards.
- Generate Deliverables: Extract shop drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings, and accurate Material Take-Offs (MTO).
- Clash Detection: Coordinate with other trades to resolve geometric conflicts before fabrication.
- Revision Handling: Update models and drawings promptly based on client or site redline comments.
Qualifications &
- Skills
- Experience: 2 to 7 years of structural steel detailing experience.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Software Proficiency: Strong hands-on command of Tekla Structures and AutoCAD.
- Code Knowledge: Familiarity with international standards (AISC, OSHA, Tekla Checker Role Summary
- The Tekla Checker is responsible for quality control, verifying 3D models and 2D drawings for fabrication accuracy, safety compliance, and constructability standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Assurance: Review and check Tekla 3D models, assembly drawings,
and part drawings for complete accuracy.
- Verify Connections: Ensure all bolt sizes, weld sizes, member sizes, and clearances match design intent and engineering calculations.
- MTO Verification: Check material quantities, piece marks, and list accuracy against contract documents.
- Mentorship: Guide junior and intermediate modellers on technical corrections and modeling standards.
- Final Sign-off: Authorize drawing release for fabrication and site erection.
Qualifications &
- Skills
- Experience: 5 to 10+ years in structural steel detailing with at least 3+ years specifically in a checking role.
- Education: Diploma or Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- Expertise: Deep understanding of fabrication shop practices, erection sequences, and welding symbols.
- Standards: Expert knowledge of AISC, NISD, or local regional codes.
