Junior Planning Engineer

Reports To Stores Manager

Job PurposeTo support material planning activities by ensuring timely availability of materials for production, monitoring inventory levels, coordinating with cross-functional departments, and maintaining accurate planning records in the ERP system to ensure smooth manufacturing operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare daily and weekly material planning based on the production schedule.
- Verify material availability before releasing production jobs.
- Ensure timely issuance of raw materials and components to subcontractors and the Production Department as per approved requirements, without delay, to support uninterrupted manufacturing and subcontracting activities.
- Prepare and update daily job planning sheets and material requirement reports.
- Track pending Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) and follow up with the Purchase Department for timely material delivery.
- Coordinate with Production, Purchase, Quality, and Stores departments to resolve material shortages and production-related issues.
- Analyze material consumption and assist in forecasting future material requirements.
- Coordinate with the Inward Stores team to ensure timely GRN processing of incoming materials.
- Assist in annual stock verification, cycle counting,



and inventory reconciliation activities.
- Ensure adherence to FIFO/FEFO inventory management practices wherever applicable.
- Maintain accurate documentation for material planning, inventory movement, and ERP records.
- Identify opportunities to improve inventory turnover and minimize stock-outs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO procedures, and safety standards.

Required Skills

- Knowledge of inventory planning and material management.
- Understanding of ERP systems.
- Positive working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas, and basic reporting).
- Basic knowledge of BOM (Bill of Materials) and MRP (Material Requirements Planning).
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and coordination skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to work under production schedules and meet deadlines.

Educational Qualification

- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline.

Experience

- 3-5 years of experience in production planning, material planning, stores, or inventory management in a manufacturing industry.
- Experience working with ERP-based inventory and material planning will be an added advantage.
