Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Sheet Metal Die Maker with 8–10 years of hands-on experience in tool room and manufacturing operations. The candidate should have strong expertise in sheet metal dies, press tools, die maintenance, fitting, troubleshooting, and tool development. Experience in a plastic injection moulding manufacturing environment will be highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

- Design, manufacture, assemble, modify, and maintain sheet metal dies, press tools, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
- Handle complete die-making activities from drawing interpretation to final trial and production handover.
- Read and understand 2D drawings, tool drawings, GD&T;, dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
- Perform die fitting, grinding, drilling, tapping, machining, assembly, and finishing work.
- Work on blanking, piercing, bending, forming, trimming, and progressive dies.
- Conduct die trials on power presses and identify the root cause of defects.
- Carry out necessary die corrections, modifications, and improvements to achieve required component quality.
- Troubleshoot issues such as burrs, cracks, dimensional variation, improper forming, misalignment, and tool wear.
- Perform preventive and breakdown maintenance of dies and tooling.
- Maintain proper die history, maintenance records, modification records, and tool-life records.
- Coordinate with Production, Quality, Tool Room, Maintenance, and Engineering teams for tooling-related issues.
- Support new product/tool development and ensure timely completion of tooling requirements.
- Ensure optimum tool life, dimensional accuracy, productivity, and minimum production downtime.
- Guide and supervise junior die makers and tool room technicians.
- Ensure proper handling,



storage, identification, and maintenance of dies and tools.
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain proper housekeeping in the Tool Room.

Technical Skills Required

- Strong knowledge of Sheet Metal Die & Press Tool Manufacturing.
- Excellent knowledge of die fitting, assembly, trial, correction, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of tool steels, die materials, heat treatment, surface treatment, and standard die components.
- Hands-on experience with Power Press, Milling Machine, Lathe, Surface Grinding, Drill Machine, and other Tool Room machines.
- Good knowledge of measuring instruments such as Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Gauge, Bore Gauge, etc.
- Ability to understand tooling drawings and work accurately within specified tolerances.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Knowledge of plastic injection moulding tooling/components will be an added advantage.

Qualification

- ITI / Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Fitter, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical qualification.
