Job Purpose To provide technical leadership and geological expertise for the exploration, evaluation, mine planning support, grade control, and resource optimization of Iron Ore, Coal, and Bauxite mining projects. The incumbent will coordinate with mine operations, statutory authorities, consultants, and corporate management to ensure sustainable mineral resource development while maintaining compliance with applicable mining regulations.

Key Responsibilities

A. Geological Exploration&Resource; Evaluation

· Plan, supervise, and monitor geological exploration programmes for Iron Ore, Coal, and Bauxite deposits.

· Design drilling programmes, trenching, pitting, and geological mapping activities.

· Interpret geological data to establish ore body continuity, structure, and mineralization.

· Estimate mineral resources and reserves in accordance with recognized reporting standards.

· Prepare geological sections, plans, and cross-sections using modern geological software.

· Review exploration results and recommend further exploration programmes.

B. Mine Planning Support

· Provide geological inputs for short-term and long-term mine planning.

· Assist mine planning teams in optimizing pit limits and mine sequencing.

· Recommend blending strategies to maintain desired ore quality.

· Support life-of-mine planning through resource evaluation.

· Identify opportunities for maximizing mineral recovery.

C. Grade Control&Quality; Management

· Monitor ore quality and grade variation.

· Develop grade control procedures for mining operations.

· Supervise sampling programmes and laboratory testing.

· Validate assay results and geological interpretations.





· Ensure consistent supply of ore meeting customer specifications.

· Recommend blending plans for quality optimization.

D. Mineral Resource Management

· Maintain updated geological databases.

· Prepare annual mineral resource and reserve statements.

· Evaluate exploration potential in existing and recent mining leases.

· Monitor depletion of mineral resources and recommend replenishment strategies.

· Develop geological models for resource estimation.

E. Statutory Compliance

· Ensure compliance with the Mines and Minerals (Development&Regulation;) Act, Mineral Conservation&Development; Rules (MCDR), and otherapplicable regulations.

· Coordinate with the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Geological Survey of India (GSI), Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), State Mining Departments, and Ministry of Mines.

· Support preparation of Mining Plans, Review of Mining Plans, Progressive Mine Closure Plans, and statutory geological reports.

F. Technical Studies

· Conduct feasibility studies for new mining projects.

· Evaluate exploration prospects and mineral assets.

· Perform geological due diligence for acquisition of mines and mineral blocks.

· Assess mineability and commercial viability of mineral deposits.

· Support techno-commercial evaluations of mining opportunities.

G. Mine Development Support





· Coordinate with mining engineers during mine development.

· Provide geological supervision during excavation.

· Recommend corrective actions based on changing geological conditions.

· Support slope stability assessments by providing geological inputs.

· Identify geological risks affecting mining operations.

H. GIS, Remote Sensing&Geological; Modelling

· Prepare geological maps using GIS platforms.

· Interpret satellite imagery and remote sensing data.

· Develop three-dimensional geological models.

· Integrate drilling, sampling, and survey data for resource modelling.

I. Vendor&Consultant; Management

· Coordinate with exploration agencies, drilling contractors, laboratories, and geological consultants.

· Evaluate technical proposals from consultants.

· Monitor quality and progress of outsourced exploration work.

· Review consultant reports and recommend improvements.

J. Reporting&MIS;

· Prepare monthly geological reports for management.

· Present resource evaluation reports to senior leadership.

· Maintain exploration expenditure records.

· Prepare technical presentations for Board and management reviews.

· Develop geological dashboards and KPIs.

Experience

· 10–15 years of relevant experience in Iron Ore, Coal, and/or Bauxite mining.

· Experience in geological exploration, mine geology, grade control, and mineral resource estimation.

· Exposure to captive as well as commercial mining operations will be preferred.

· Experience in corporate mining offices with responsibility for multiple mine locations will be an added advantage.
