About the role The selected candidate will take complete ownership of the technical delivery and operational performance of Mentric’s Centres of Excellence.
The role involves hands-on involvement in lab design, technical specifications, BOQ preparation, procurement, OEM coordination, site readiness, installation, commissioning, testing, handover and ongoing technical operations.
This is a hands-on technical leadership role and is ideal for someone who has personally delivered large-scale industrial automation, technical infrastructure or laboratory projects from concept through commissioning
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end technical delivery of Centres of Excellence and technical laboratories.
- Conduct site surveys and assess space, electrical power, earthing, HVAC, networking and safety requirements.
- Design laboratory layouts, equipment schedules, utility requirements and technical specifications.
- Prepare detailed and commercially defensible Bill of Quantities (BOQ) for projects.
- Manage procurement schedules, OEM orders, lead times, logistics and equipment delivery.
- Coordinate directly with OEMs, principal vendors, system integrators and contractors.
- Manage electrical, civil, HVAC and networking site works and ensure execution as per technical specifications and project timelines.
- Lead equipment installation, commissioning, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), snag closure and technical handover.
- Ensure every Centre of Excellence is delivered student-ready within the committed 60–90 day timeline and within the approved project cost.
- Take ownership of technical uptime across operational centres, including preventive maintenance, spares, AMC coordination, helpdesk and technical escalations.
- Provide technical solutioning,
costing and inputs for recent institutional proposals and tenders.
- Build, mentor and certify the internal engineering team to reduce dependency on external OEM field engineers.
Required Qualification The candidate should have:
- 7–14 years of industry experience in Industrial Automation, Technical Infrastructure, Engineering Projects or related domains.
- End-to-end ownership of at least 3 technical projects valued at ₹1 crore or above, covering specification, BOQ, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
- Hands-on experience in at least two of the following:
PLC & HMI Programming
SCADA / DCS
Industrial Robotics
Building Management Systems (BMS)
AI / GPU / HPC Infrastructure
- Direct experience working with OEMs/principal vendors , including specification, order placement, FAT, warranty and technical coordination.
- Experience managing site execution, contractors and project schedules.
- Working knowledge of electrical and laboratory safety and statutory compliance.
Preferred Experience Multi-site / multi-city technical project delivery
Experience managing a team of 4–10 engineers
International deployment or commissioning experience
Equipment export, customs and logistics exposure
Experience with GPU / high-performance computing infrastructure
Experience working with academic, government or technical-skilling projects
OEM exposure to platforms such as Schneider Electric, Siemens, Rockwell, SMC, Festo, FANUC, ABB,
Honeywell, Mitsubishi or Omron
Qualification
B.E. / B.Tech in:
Electrical | Electronics | Instrumentation & Control | Mechatronics | Mechanical | Computer Science
Preferred: M.E./M.Tech in Automation, Control Systems, Robotics or Energy Systems.
Relevant OEM certifications and Lean/Six Sigma certification will be an added advantage.
