We are looking for a Senior Java Software Engineer with strong production experience building and operating high-throughput, distributed systems.

This role is specifically focused on engineers with deep Apache Kafka and Kubernetes experience. Experience limited to using Kafka as a publisher/consumer is not sufficient for this position.

Core Requirements

- Apache Kafka — Deep Production ExpertiseYou must have hands-on experience managing and operating Kafka in production, not just developing Kafka producers and consumers.

You should have a strong understanding and practical experience with:
- Kafka clusters and brokers
- Topic creation, configuration, and lifecycle management
- Partitions, partitioning strategies, and partition rebalancing
- Consumer groups, consumer rebalancing, and offset management
- Replication, leaders/followers, and fault tolerance
- Handling high-throughput workloads
- Kafka performance tuning and capacity considerations
- Troubleshooting production Kafka issues
- Consumer lag, throughput, and availability monitoring
- Designing Kafka-based event-driven architectures
- Understanding failure scenarios and recovery strategies

Important: Candidates whose Kafka experience is primarily limited to implementing producers/consumers or consuming messages from existing topics will not be a fit.

- Kubernetes — Strong Production ExperienceYou must have hands-on experience running applications in production Kubernetes environments.

Experience should include

- Deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes
- Deployments, Pods, Services, ConfigMaps and Secrets
- Resource requests/limits and scaling
- Health checks and application availability
- Troubleshooting failed deployments and unhealthy Pods
- Understanding Kubernetes networking and service discovery




- Production troubleshooting and incident handling
- Experience working with Kubernetes clusters and their operational challenges

Java & Spring Boot
- 5+ years of professional backend software engineering experience
- Strong production experience with Java
- Deep hands-on experience with Spring Boot
- Experience designing and developing scalable microservices
- Strong understanding of REST APIs and distributed systems
- Experience with fault-tolerant and highly available systems
- Solid understanding of concurrency, performance, and system scalability

Redis & Distributed Systems
- Practical production experience with Redis
- Understanding of caching strategies and cache invalidation
- Experience troubleshooting latency and performance issues
- Strong understanding of distributed-system failure modes and trade-offs
- Experience designing systems that operate reliably under heavy load

What We Are Looking ForThe ideal candidate is someone who can design, operate, troubleshoot, and scale distributed systems—not just write application code. In particular, we are looking for someone who can confidently answer questions such as:

- How would you design Kafka partitions for a high-throughput workload?
- How would you troubleshoot increasing consumer lag?
- What happens when a Kafka broker fails?
- How would you handle partition rebalancing?
- How would you identify and resolve Kafka throughput bottlenecks?
- How would you troubleshoot a Kubernetes application that is repeatedly restarting?
- How would you diagnose performance or availability issues in a production Kubernetes environment?
