About the Role The SAT Verbal Mentor role is designed for an experienced educator who can guide students through SAT verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, grammar, and academic writing. You will own learning outcomes for the students you support by delivering clear lessons, breaking down complex concepts, and adapting your approach to different proficiency levels. The role also includes contributing to question analysis, content refinement, and feedback loops that improve how students learn and how the program performs.

This is a hands-on mentoring position for someone who understands how to connect subject knowledge with student progress, especially in higher education test prep. The ideal person brings strong English skills, a mentoring mindset, and comfort working in an edtech environment where impact is measured through learner growth, clarity of instruction, and consistent academic quality.





Key Responsibilities

- Deliver SAT verbal mentoring sessions that improve reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, grammar, and writing outcomes for students preparing for higher education entrance exams.
- Translate complex verbal concepts into simple, practical explanations that help learners apply them confidently during timed test scenarios.
- Review student performance, identify recurring gaps, and use that insight to adjust instruction, assignments, and feedback for stronger progress.
- Contribute to question analysis and content development so the learning material stays aligned with exam patterns and student needs.
- Support academic operations by coordinating with the team on learner progress, session quality, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Create a motivating learning workplace that encourages discipline, confidence, and steady improvement across different student skill levels.
- Bring an edtech-aware approach to teaching by using digital tools, structured resources, and feedback-driven methods to improve learning effectiveness.

Essential Skills & Technologies

- Strong command of English, with the ability to teach verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, grammar, and writing in a way that is accurate, engaging, and easy to follow.
- Proven familiarity with SAT Verbal or related verbal reasoning programs, along with the judgment to connect exam strategy to real student performance.
- Demonstrated experience in the edtech or higher education prep space, with an understanding of how structured learning programs drive measurable learner outcomes.
- Solid analytical thinking and pattern recognition,



especially when reviewing question types, student errors, and recurring learning gaps.
- Effective communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to lead sessions and give feedback that is direct, constructive, and motivating.
- Comfortable using digital learning tools and online teaching platforms to deliver sessions, track progress, and support modern learning workflows.
- Strong ownership mindset, with the ability to work independently while staying aligned to program goals and student success measures.

Additional Plus

- Experience with SAT, GRE, GMAT, CAT, or similar aptitude-based test preparation programs will be an added advantage.
- Background in debating, public speaking, MUN, writing, or content creation can strengthen your ability to explain ideas clearly and support student engagement.
- Previous mentoring, tutoring, or academic coaching experience in higher education or test-prep settings is a strong plus.

What You'll Bring

- A Master’s in English or a closely related academic background, along with the maturity to guide students through verbal skill development with confidence.
- 2–3 years of relevant experience in SAT verbal, verbal reasoning, edtech, or higher education test-prep environments.
- The ability to combine subject expertise, student empathy, and structured instruction so learners gain both clarity and exam readiness.
- A growth mindset, strong accountability, and the discipline to improve content, delivery, and learner outcomes through feedback and iteration.
