What Your Role Entails

Own the consumer-centric industrial design and CMF (Colour-Material-Finish) direction for Blue Star's portfolio translating consumer insight and emerging design trends into differentiated product form, feel, and user experience that strengthens brand appeal and drives commercial success

What You’ll Do:

Consumer Research & Insight

- Conduct design research and consumer behaviour studies to translate unmet consumer needs into actionable design briefs
- Evaluate design concepts against consumer preferences and market trends to validate design direction ahead of development sign-off

Design Development & CMF

- Develop 3D models, sketches, and mock prototypes using design software to communicate design intent and validate form, fit, and finish
- Define and apply CMF (Colour, Material, Finish) specifications across categories to ensure aesthetic consistency and on-trend appeal
- Research new materials and finishing techniques to expand design possibilities within cost and manufacturing constraints

Cross-Functional Collaboration

- Collaborate with Product Management, Marketing, and NPD / Engineering teams to align design intent with technical feasibility, cost targets, and project timelines




- Present design concepts and rationale to internal stakeholders to secure timely design approvals and drive decision-making
- Support Marketing teams during product photoshoots and launch collateral development to ensure design intent is accurately represented

UI/UX & Digital Experience

- Contribute UI/UX design inputs for digital touchpoints (product displays, control panels, app interfaces) to enhance the overall consumer experience

Capability Building

- Build and mentor a small design team (CMF Specialist, Design / Trend Researcher) as the function scales, to strengthen in-house design capability

Your success is grounded in

- Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Industrial Design or Product Design from a recognized institute with minimum 10 years of experience.
- Consumer-centric industrial design for durable / appliance categories — air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, fans, and small appliances
- Design research, consumer behaviour analysis, and trend forecasting to inform product form and feature direction
- CMF (Colour, Material, Finish) specification and trend application across the product portfolio
- Proficiency in 3D modelling and design software: Rhinoceros, Fusion 360, KeyShot, SolidWorks, Adobe Creative Suite, CorelDRAW
- Design sketching, concept visualization, and mock / prototype development
- Working knowledge of UI/UX design principles for digital product touchpoints
- Familiarity with manufacturing materials, finishes, and processes to ensure design feasibility
