About the Role
Lovely Skilled University is seeking an experienced and well-connected PR, Print & Media Liaison professional to strengthen the university’s media presence across national and state-level media houses.
The ideal candidate will have strong relationships with journalists, editors, producers, TV news channels, and print media organizations, along with proven expertise in media pitching, press relations, interview coordination, and crisis communication. The professional will be responsible for proactively generating positive media visibility and ensuring timely, strategic communication with key media stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
1. Media Relations & Liaison
- Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term relationships with national and state-level print, television, digital, and news media houses.
- Maintain direct working relationships with journalists, editors, bureau chiefs, producers, news anchors, correspondents, and media decision-makers.
- Serve as a key point of contact between the university and the media.
- Respond promptly and professionally to media queries, requests, and information requirements.
- Develop a strong and updated database of relevant media contacts across national and regional markets.
2. Press Releases & Media Communication
- Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media statements, press notes, story pitches, and official communication briefs.
- Identify newsworthy university initiatives, achievements, events, appointments, research, student success stories, and leadership announcements for media amplification.
- Ensure press releases are accurately positioned and distributed to the most relevant media houses.
- Follow up with journalists and editors to maximize publication and coverage opportunities.
- Develop compelling story angles and media narratives aligned with institutional objectives.
3. National & State-Level Media Coverage
- Drive consistent and high-quality coverage across national and state-level media houses.
- Proactively pitch stories to relevant newspapers, television channels, news portals, magazines, and other media platforms.
- Identify emerging media opportunities and convert them into meaningful visibility for the university.
- Track media coverage and maintain regular reporting on media exposure, key stories, publications, interviews, and media outcomes.
- Develop strong regional media relationships while simultaneously expanding national media visibility.
4. TV News & Broadcast Media Management
- Maintain direct relationships with TV news channels, editors, producers, anchors, and assignment desks.
- Identify and secure opportunities for university leadership, faculty, experts, and spokespersons to participate in television debates, interviews, discussions, and special programs.
- Book TV appearances and interviews and coordinate all related logistics.
- Prepare spokespersons and relevant stakeholders with appropriate talking points and briefing notes.
- Coordinate with producers and editorial teams to ensure smooth execution of television appearances.
- Explore opportunities for expert commentary and thought leadership on relevant national and regional issues.
5. Media Pitching & Proactive PR
- Develop and execute proactive media-pitching strategies to generate positive and credible coverage.
- Identify journalists and publications most relevant to specific stories and campaigns.
- Create customized pitches based on the editorial interests of individual journalists and media houses.
- Continuously identify new opportunities for interviews, features, opinion pieces, expert comments, profiles, and institutional stories.
- Build sustained media visibility rather than relying only on event-based coverage.
6. Crisis Communication & Damage Control
- Support the organization during media-sensitive and crisis situations.
- Coordinate rapid and accurate responses to negative, misleading, or sensitive media coverage.
- Monitor media narratives and identify potential reputation risks at an early stage.
- Prepare media responses, statements, FAQs, and talking points in coordination with senior leadership.
- Maintain strong relationships with journalists and editors to ensure balanced and fact-based communication during sensitive situations.
- Support reputation management and damage-control initiatives when required.
7. Interview & Event Coordination
- Coordinate media interactions, press conferences, interviews, media briefings, and press visits.
- Manage journalist invitations and media attendance for important university events.
- Coordinate with internal teams, leadership, faculty,
and spokespersons for media engagements.
- Ensure timely briefing of all stakeholders before interviews and media interactions.
- Handle post-interview follow-ups and ensure accurate coverage.
8. Media Monitoring & Reporting
- Monitor daily coverage across print, television, digital, and regional media.
- Track media mentions, sentiment, prominent stories, interviews, and institutional visibility.
- Maintain media coverage records and prepare periodic PR performance reports.
- Analyze media trends and identify opportunities for improving the university’s public profile.
- Track competitor and sector-related media activity to identify relevant PR opportunities.

Candidates with established relationships with TV news channels, editors, producers, journalists, and leading media houses, along with strong experience in media pitching, interview management, and crisis communication, will be preferred.
